Republican Primates
My smug-o-meter shot off the charts this week following the GOP debate. The liberal elite so abhors those who believe in God they forget that most of us do actually do.
During the recent GOP debate on MSNBC, three candidates raised their hand to indicate they didn’t believe in evolution. Well, you would’ve thought they said the world was flat from the biting and sarcastic verbiage from the ordinary ministers of the media.
Chris Matthews’ question was a poor one as evolution means many different things to different people. To some it simply means that species adapt over time. Fine. But very often it also attempts to explain creation without God which many people would have a problem with.
Personally, I don’t care whether God took six days or six million days to create the world and populate it. But I get a little rankled over the view that the majority of people in this country who question whether man evolved from a single celled organism are themselves primates.
But while the secular community guffawed, a national survey shows that almost two-thirds of U.S. adults (64%) agree with the basic tenet of creationism, that “human beings were created directly by God.”
And this from CBS News in 2005,”Most Americans do not accept the theory of evolution. Instead, 51 percent of Americans say God created humans in their present form.”
But that doesn’t stop the verbal onslaught.
The Politico.com asked, “Well, if evolution results in superior and complex beings, how do we account for Brownback, Huckabee and Tancredo?”
Jay Leno got it on it by saying, “Actually, my favorite part of the debate was when Chris Matthews asked, ‘Who does not believe in evolution?’ And Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee and Tom Tancredo all raised their paw.”
Leno continued: “No, they said they do not believe in evolution. Then they said the biggest threat to America — religious radicals living in the Dark Ages.”
This love letter was penned in Newsday. “Another notable moment was when the group was asked who did not believe in evolution. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado raised their hands – an indication, we fear, that they have been left out of the process. “
Well those folks might be interested in meeting Dr. Michael Behe, a professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University, who wrote a book questioning the tenets of Darwinian evolution. He said in an interview,
“I never gave evolution much of a thought. I was taught in my undergraduate years and graduate studies in biochemistry that all of these fantastically intricate systems that I was learning about were the result of Darwinian evolution…But since (Darwin’s) time, science has shown that the cell is an extremely complex system containing proteins and nucleic acids and all sorts of miniaturized machines. In my book I go through a number of these machines and argue that Darwinian natural selection cannot have produced them because they have a property called irreducible complexity; that is, they consist of a number of parts, all of which must be present for the machine to work. Irreducible complexity is like a mousetrap which has a number of parts, and all the parts must be present before it can work. I argue that such systems are best explained as the result of deliberate intelligent design.”
It’s becoming clear to me that Christians don’t need evolution to be false in order to believe but that the liberal elite fervently needs it to be true.
