State Finds Splattered Blood, Unsterilized Equipment in Abortion Clinic
Horror.
Health inspectors in Pennsylvania inspected a controversial Allentown abortion clinic and found unsanitary equipment, blood splattered walls, unsterilized equipment with brown crud on them, equipment with expiration dates in 2003, and the bottom shelf of a freezer was coated in a thick layer of blood, The Morning Call reports.
And these are the people who constantly accuse pro-lifers of not caring about women?
The previous owner of the clinic, Dr. Steven Brigham , was previously barred from operating in Pennsylvania for hiring unlicensed medical professionals but the clinic lived on after changing hands.
The state, which hadn’t been monitoring abortion clinics until the Dr. Gosnell horror in Philadelphia where dead babies were kept in jars, inspected the controversial Allentown abortion clinic and found that it failed to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
It noted that in two “procedure rooms,” an employee showed inspectors dozens of metal devices used in abortions that had been sterilized, but not wrapped to maintain sterility. Nine packages of surgical instruments, the report said, “had an accumulation of brown debris in the hinge areas and brown staining on the inside of the packages.” An employee, who was unnamed, “confirmed that these surgical instruments were considered sterile and ready for patient use.”
In addition, inspectors found instruments in sterile packages that were past the expiration dates listed on the packages. Two disposable uterine catheters had expiration dates of March 15, 2003 and September 2005. Clonidine tablets were also out-of-date.
The report said: Other instruments were stored in dirty containers. A freezer for infectious waste in a scrub room was splattered and smeared with blood and the bottom of the freezer was coated with a “thick layer” of frozen blood.
Oh, the report also said the clinic violated state law “by allowing the patient safety officer to conduct a March 16 safety meeting by telephone from an office in Voorhees, instead of having a patient safety officer regularly on-site in Allentown.”
That’s how committed abortion clinics are to women’s safety. They literally phone it in. Expect more horror shows like this one as inspections of abortion clinics hopefully increase.
According to reports, the consequences for such a horrible report are still unclear. Inspections are good but if they’re done without consequence it’s really not a big deal. We’ll be watching.
