Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. This is the title of Ben Stein’s new documentary on the lack of academic freedom squashes any scientific inquiry that might suggest there is design in the universe. Of course, evidence of design is also evidence of a Designer. Can’t have that.

Throughout his journey, Stein discovers scientists who “have had their reputations destroyed and their careers ruined by a scientific establishment that allows absolutely no dissent from Charles Darwin’s theory of random mutation and natural selection.” The movie reveals how educators “are being ridiculed, denied tenure and even fired in some cases for the fact that they believe there is evidence of “design” in nature, challenging the idea that life is a result of random chance.”
“The incredible thing about ‘Expelled’ is that we don’t resort to manipulating our interviews for the purpose of achieving the ‘shock effect,’ something that has become common in documentary film these days,” said Walt Ruloff, co-founder of Premise Media and co-Executive Producer.
“People will be stunned to actually find out what elitist scientists proclaim, which is that a large majority of Americans are simpletons who believe in a fairy tale. Premise Media took on this difficult mission because we believe the greatest asset of humanity is our freedom to explore and discover truth.”
I am not a creationist per se. Evolution may have played some role in the development of man. However, there are many gaps in the ‘theory’ (yes, it is just a theory) but scientists cannot be seen to be questioning the scientific dogma, or else the inquisition will do away with them. I always find it remarkable that scientists accuse believers, especially catholics, of being rigid and dogmatic. However the Church is notoriously slow to reign in dissent. The academic community is much more efficient and draconian.
I suspect that if we ever do get to the bottom of creation via scientific means, we will discover that the biblical creation story is closed to the truth that anyone suspects.

I was always on edge around many of my peers in undergrad. Studying environmental science, I cam across some of the most rigid and dogmatic thinkers- and none of them were at the student parish. They were in the labs, lecture halls, as both students and professors.
The only type of scientist more opposed to free thought than a professor teaching evolution is an environmental scientist preaching about climate change (and yes, it is preaching).
