The National Italian American Foundation dinner is in D.C. next week. Rudy Giuliani and Nancy Pelosi — two pro-abortion Catholics — are being honored.
And, according to National Review, the papal nuncio Archbishop Pietro Sambi — the Vatican’s official representative in the United States — is giving the invocation. Does his presence there on the dais appear as a sort of political/papal imprimatur for Giuliani and Pelosi?
What do you think is the proper thing to do? Should the papal nuncio attend? And if so, should he bring up abortion? Or should he politely decline?
I’m pretty sure I know what Archbishop Raymond Burke would do.

He should go, and bring up “the gift of life” or words to that effect in his invocation.
What’s Nancy gonna do, call for a second opinion?

Hmmm, I remember Mother Teresa meeting with President Clinton, that was a beautiful message she gave with him in attendance. I wonder if he has any creative or blunt ideas for Rudy or Nancy.

Let ‘im go and include references to fighting our culture of death in his invocation.
