Not to seem too much like Andy Rooney but have to ask; have you ever noticed that atheists nowadays tend to be more evangelistic than believers? Look at the comment boxes in religious blogs. You can’t go too far without stumbling upon some atheist with something to say. I’ve never gone to an atheist site to yell at them.
It’s an odd thing to be so pushy about a negative which is what atheism is, though. The International Federation of Atheists is a group of atheists and they do what it seems atheists do -which is to speak incessantly of religion.
I wonder what atheists talk about. Do they whisper sweet nothingness into one another’s ears? Or do they always speak of those things in which they do not believe. There are any number of things in which I don’t believe including Bigfoot but I don’t start a group called the International Federation of Exclusively Smallfeet. It’s odd how people rally around a banner of negation. Atheism is not a philosophy on life.
It seems to me completely silly to announce (and they always do) that you are an atheist. There are many things that I am not. I have never announced that I am not a Buddhist. Or a vegetarian. I would just typically say, “I am a Catholic” or “Is anyone gonna’ eat that last cheeseburger?”
But anyway the International Federation of Atheists announced this week it will hold the first Council of Atheists in Toledo, Spain, during which it will present a pornographic exhibit entitled Sanctorum, which features images of Christ, the Virgin Mary and the saints.
Organizers said the event will be held in the old church of San Vicente of Toledo, which is now administered by the Toledo Art Circle. The first Council of Atheists will be held December 7-9.
Rather odd. A bunch of people who supposedly want nothing to do with religion going to see an exhibit about religion. I suppose they want attention, the poor things. If they would just become Christians they’d realize that Someone is paying quite close attention and they wouldn’t have to be so outrageous and silly.
If only all Christians would get this obsessed with religion the world might be a better place.

I suppose we’re a bit upset and evangelistic because so many believers hold bigoted and asinine views like the ones in this post.

I used to be one of these people. I was like Christopher Hitchens, but without all the Kumbaya and goodwill towards those who disagreed with me. 🙂 For me, it was about pride. I liked denouncing Christians because I thought it was so clear that they were wrong, so it was always a nice opportunity to show everyone how educated and intelligent I was.
…Looking back, I think even my atheist friends must be glad I’m a Christian now. I was such an a–hole.

Just a thought, if perchance the Atheist is correct and there is not GOD then there is no eternal consequences to our actions or non that would matter to us, as we are simply worm food, a biological anomaly that will shortly be re-consumed by the environment. So then philosophy would say you enjoy pleasures, procreate as to pass on your species or not and really it is all pointless anyway. Then there is that option that the atheist despises, there is a GOD and there will be a accountability for your actions. So hedging your bet and playing devil’s advocate, Are you willing to risk your eternity on your belief that there is no GOD. WOW now that is FAITH!!! Atheists always amaze me! As the devil I would not want anyone to believe in neither GOD nor the Devil as if you admit to one you are inclined to believe in the other, it is just what side you stand on (would not want them to have the option to step over the line better to have no line). Atheist “religion” is the perfect faith for the devil to promote!It is that little child putting his fingers in his ears saying nananana I can’t hear you, I don’t believe in you so you don’t exist! All life, all existence sings of GOD’s glory and only the devil does not want you to see this. I have experienced both miracles, angels and daemons in my life, I could not deny the existence of GOD if I tried! I do find it curious that the “LIBERAL” condones the murdering of the unborn? Every person of faith Buddhist, Christian, ETC. that proclaims any faith in GOD would be a hypocrite if they condone Abortion it is the zenith of sacrilege and humorously even a TRUE Darwinist would be pro-life as Survival of the species and the evolution there of would require one to put value in life over personal convenience, they would also have to be pro family and anti Gay as it is an unnatural union that would not guarantee the continuation of the species as a Darwinist the GAY life style would be your DEVIL or nemesis, it is funny they encourage both in schools now days. Watch out for these people (some who even claim to be Christian) that support murder, immorality and discrimination against people of faith they are the Devils Children! Do not be fooled by their sheep’s clothing nor coddled by their ½ truths and lies. STAND FIRM IN YOUR FAITH, CALL THE KETTLE BLACK AND DO NOT LET THEM LEGISLATE YOU OUT OF YOUR RIGHTS!

I’m an ex christian and proud of it. Life makes much more sense now reading up to date research is so much more pleasing and enlighteneing than a 2000+yr old horror story. really, a book that condones sacrificing your son for an imaginary entity or throwing your daughters out to a sex crazed mob, insane!
