Lorraine Allard, who during her pregnancy was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer but delayed treatment for the sake of her baby, has passed away.

Lorraine was told four months into the pregnancy the devastating news that she was in the advanced stages of cancer. Treatment would likely have ended her pregnancy. However, she insisted on waiting long enough to give her unborn son a chance to survive, telling her husband, Martyn: “If I am going to die, my baby is going to live.”

She gave birth on November 18th to her beautiful little boy Liam. She subsequently started treatment, but it was too late. Two months to the day after giving a chance at life to her son, she lost hers. Liam is still in the hospital, but he is improving and it is hoped he will go home in March.

Hopefully, most children grow up knowing that their mommy loves them because Mommy is there. Liam will grow up knowing his mommy loved him because she is not there.
