This is a little disturbing to me. The media seems obsessed with the possibility of Barack Obama being assassinated. I am amazed how the media sees the American people.
CBS morning show hist Harry Smith asked repeated questions of Sen. Ted Kennedy about the possibility of Barack’s murder in a horribly unsubtle way:
HARRY SMITH: When you see that enthusiasm [for Obama] though, and when you see the generational change that seems to be taking place before our eyes, does it make you at all fearful?
Kennedy had no idea what Smith was driving at so Smith followed up with this:
SMITH: I just, I think what I was trying to say is, sometimes agents of change end of being targets, as you well know, and that was why I was asking if you were at all fearful of that.
And then there’s this from 60 Minutes:
The New York Times wrote: “Today, in Dover, Francine Torge, a former John Edwards supporter, said this while introducing Mrs. Clinton: “Some people compare one of the other candidates to John F. Kennedy. But he was assassinated. And Lyndon Baines Johnson was the one who actually” passed the civil rights legislation.
The comment, an apparent reference to Senator Barack Obama, is particularly striking given documented fears among blacks that Mr. Obama will be assassinated if elected.”
Princeton University professor of political science and contemporary black culture Melissa Harris-Lacewell was quoted in many magazines and newspapers saying, “For many black supporters, there is a lot of anxiety that he will be killed, and it is on people’s minds…You can’t make a prediction like this — like he has ‘a 50 percent chance of getting shot.’ But the greater his visibility and the greater his access to people, there is a danger,”
This is completely disturbing. I mean, that the media is so convinced that Americans are such Neanderthals that they won’t be able to stand the thought of Obama as President. Sad.

Yet somehow the attempt on President Bush’s life and VP Chaney’s were pretty much met with a media yawn.

Well you have all those religious fanatics that don’t like him. They are pretty much the same as the people that killed Bhutto. You know they believe in God and that makes them kill people.

Are these people afraid of “the reaction of the American People” or “The Reaction of The Clintons, suspected killers of Vince Foster?”
Because it may actually be the latter……
I think they’re actually just being paranoid… and need something to talk about since Obama hasn;t actually put forth any actual POLICY suggestions…..
