Some good news for the Extraordinary Form on Long Island.

On June 15, 2008 at St. Agnes Cathedral the Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop of Rockville Centre, will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation according to the Traditional Form.

Further, Bishop Murphy will be in attendance next Sunday, March 9, 2008, at the Solemn High Mass at St. Pius X in Uniondale at 11 am. On that day, Bishop Murphy will formally confer the title of “Monsignor” at the level of Chaplain to His Holiness Benedict XVI upon Father James F. Pereda, M.A., M Div., J.C.D., Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Monsignor Pareda is well known to the Traditional Latin Mass community on Long Island and has been providing the Mass in the extraordinary form for years at St. Pius X in Uniondale and Sacred Heart Church in Cutchogue, NY.

This is excellent news all around for the traditional community on Long Island.
