The results are in for the 2008 Catholic Blogs Awards and lo and behold, our humble little endeavour has been voted as the Best New Catholic Blog of the year. We are grateful and humbled that so many of you took the time to vote for us. Thank you so very much.
Amazingly, given our newness, CMR placed very well in a number of other categories! We had top 5 or top 10 finishes in the flowing categories:
- Best Group Blog – 3rd Place
- Best Designed Catholic Blog – 5th Place
- Best Insider News Catholic Blog – 8th Place
- Best Overall Catholic Blog – 9th Place
- Best Political/Social Commentary Catholic Blog – 8th Place
- Funniest Catholic Blog – 7th Place
Truly an amazing finish for the Creative Minority! Our congratulations go out to all the other winners! We also congratulate the other blogs in the New Blog category as some of them are among our favorites too!
Now you cannot win award without thanking people. First we would like thank CMR contributor DMAC for his outstanding contributions to the site. Next we must thank our wives and families for their support in all that we do. Thanks to Josh LeBlanc for running the awards. These lists of thank yous are always problematic as you might forget someone, so apologies in advance. Thanks to Jeff Miller, Amy Welborn, Mark Shea, Danielle Bean, Karen Hall, David Alexander, Matt Swaim, and all the other bloggers who linked to our stories. Of course, we want to thank all the people who read CMR every day and especially those who take the time to comment on our posts. We like comments.
Last but not least, we wish to thank God for all that He has given us.
Peace out!
Matthew and Patrick Archbold
P.S. CMR Catholic Blog Award win is clearly a mandate for change. And Hope. And Hope about change and …

Hey Archie Boys:
Congrats on winning The Big Kahuna.
Well of COURSE you’re the Best New Catholic Blog! Didn’t I tell the whole world you were? In the six years that MWBH has been in operation, yours is the only blog I’ve ever endorsed for these awards other than my own. So even though I did… oh, about as well as usual, a victory for you (almost) feels like a victory for me. At least it proves I was right all along about something.
Meanwhile, as I bask in the semi-glow of your success, I’ll be doing a blow-by-blow assessment of this year’s awards, as soon as I come up for air during Holy Week celebrations.
Don’t let it go to your heads. (See what it’s doing to mine?)

I have to turn my back on you now as my agent tells me I should stop dealing with the “little people.” (That’s what us big shots call you behind your backs)

Heh. I suppose you’re going to tell me that’s your best side. And another thing, my agent can whoop your agent’s (bleep!).
