In an interview with The Advocate Barack Obama really sent up a flare to the country as to how dangerous his Presidency would actually be:
Obama: And finally, an area that I’m very interested in is making sure that federal benefits are available to same-sex couples who have a civil union. I think as more states sign civil union bills into law the federal government should be helping to usher in a time when there’s full equality in terms of what that means for federal benefits.
Interviewer: I assume you’re talking about the Defense of Marriage Act.
Obama: Absolutely, and I for a very long time have been interested in repeal of DOMA.
WHAT! Helloooooo! I’m calling the Republican Party. This is what your ads should be about. Many people on the right are not very excited about McCain but they will certainly be scared of Obama after this.
Now, just a refresher, DOMA was passed by Congress by a vote of 85-14 in the Senate and a vote of 342-67 in the House of Representatives and was signed by President Bill Clinton on September 21, 1996. (Notice only 14 Senators voted against it. That’s usually a sign it’s pretty out there)
DOMA stipulated that No state need treat a relationship between persons of the same sex as a marriage, even if the relationship is considered a marriage in another state. The Federal Government may not treat same-sex relationships as marriages for any purpose, even if concluded or recognized by one of the states.
Now, the moment that Obama were to repeal DOMA gay marriage would by law forcibly accepted in every state of the union because some states have already passed a gay marriage bill.
The repeal of DOMA is a huge third rail. Even Hillary who has vociferously courted the gay vote, even sending her daughter on gay bar crawls throughout the country, has not gone this far. Hillary said she would look into it and she gave lip service to equal rights but nothing like this.
The funny thing is that even for Obama this is a sudden turnaround. Obama in 2006 said on the Senate floor, “Personally, I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.” But now because Obama is feeling the heat from Hillary he’s courting votes by tacking left. Really left. This is a very big deal and another sign that Obama is not ready for prime time and would be ruinous to our country.

I said recently to a friend of mine who was considering voting for Obama that he might be the most dangerous man ever to run for President.
Bill Clinton was icky in his way but he wanted to be liked too much to ever do anything historic.
Obama wants to remake America into some utopian socialist vision he’s not sharing with the rest of us. Gay marriage would undermine our entire country.

The sad thing is, if the Republicans WERE to run an ad about this, McCain would probably condemn them and demand that the ad be pulled off the air!

You’re probably right but Republicans and 527’s should run it anyway. This is a huge issue. No culutre has ever defined marriage as a man and a man. If we allow this, every institution will be upended.

I personally think its a great idea. Western civilization was overrated anyway.

I agree, Matthew…don’t get me wrong. It’s just that the Reps. are so wimpy about calling this man out and showing just how dangerous he is. I was going to “sit this one out” but this election is too important.

This one is waaaayyy to important. I feel like the secularists are on their victory lap and we haven’t even begun racing yet. It’s time to stand up. (Even though I personally am not a big fan of McCain.)

Looking at McCain’s voting record, he’s always where I want him to be on social issues–marriage and abortion. His differences with the RNC are more with support of business and taxes–both areas where there can certainly be some room for discussion. His miliatray experience means his more likely to have a plan for deail with Afganistan and Iraq, which George Bush clearly did not. So all and all, I’ll be comfortable voting for him.

You people need to get a grip on yourselves. The fact that you all believe that allowing same sex marriage will somehow effect your own lives is unbelievably self-centered and ridiculous. The truth is, the only aspect of your lives that would be effected by a repeal of DOMA would be that you would feel ever more uncomfortable with your own sexuality.

OBAMA SUPPORTS SAME-SEXERS
(and supports the “rights” of little kids to view public depravity!)
Google “Americans for Truth,” click on “Zombietime” [or go directly to: http://www.zombietime.com], then click on “Up Your Alley Fair”! After recovering from the uncensored photos, Yahoo “God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up” on the “ucmpage” listing (even Jesus told Judas to hurry up – John 13:27). Also Yahoo “Dangerous Radicals of the Religious Right.” See all of this before the predicted California earthquake happens a la Rev. 16:19 (“the cities of the nations fell”) – and before hurricanes and other conscience-stirring disasters occur elsewhere!
