Several days ago I wrote about Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres and Our Lady of Good Success.
Since that time, I had the good fortune of having some correspondence with Kathleen Heckenkamp of the Apostolate of Our Lady of Good Success. She shared some additional information about the devotion and tries to clear up some confusion that I may have caused by linking to Tradition in Action.
I want to impress upon you that both Volume 1 and 2 of “The Admirable Life of Mother Mariana” was used, thoroughly examined and approved by the Catholic Church in the putting forth of the cause for canonization in the case of Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres in the Twentieth Century.
We are very careful on what we distribute. We are promoting a devotion that has been approved by the Catholic Church for 400 years. Our nine day novena has an imprimatur from the Bishop of Quito in 1941 as does our canonization prayer and most of our other prayers.
We even have 2 of the 6 books that the Postulator for the Cause of Mother Mariana wrote on this subject available in Spanish.
There is nothing not to believe in about this devotion, the apparitions or the prophecies. I understand we cannot force people to believe in them and it is not a matter of faith. However for many, it certainly gives an answer to why this crisis in the Church has happened and a reason to fight against the enemies of the Church. It also gives one tremendous hope that one day – if we are still alive- we will see the Our Lady’s triumph!
…
Mother Mariana at this time is currently Venerable Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres. For convenience sake- which is probably incorrect because people then do not attribute and venerate her sanctity- we call her Mother Mariana. I think this should provide proof on whether or not this devotion is approved. Of course we know that we do not have to believe any of the approved devotions in order to be Catholic but – these devotion are meant to strengthen and deepen our Catholic Faith- never to take away from it!
As for the Tradition in Action confusion, Kathleen writes, “Yes, we carry the books written and translated by Dr. Marian T. Horvat from TIA. But we are a separate entity all together. “
If you would like more information, check out the Apostolate of Our Lady of Good Success. They have a great deal of information there and have wonderful offerings such as this DVD.
Also we want you to know that we most recently have made available a beautiful DVD Documentary on OLOGS which enables people to see the statue close up and the procession of the Rosary of the Dawn on Feb 2 – her feast day as well as interviews and discussions on why this devotion is so important for our times. In this DVD, as in the writings for the Postulator for the Cause of Mother Mariana, it is mentioned that this Church of Our Lady of Good Success has become a Marian Shrine designated by the Vatican because it was proven that there has been a continuous unbroken devotion to Our Lady of Good Success for 400 + years. As well Our Lady of Good Success was canonically crowned in the 1990’s.

Awesomeness. You know, the more I look into this apparition, the more I respect it.

According to the pdf document, Our Lady asked that the image be named “Mary of Good Success of the Purification and Candlemas”. Is this a bad translation from Spanish? I would not translate “buen suceso” as “good success” but rather as something like “happy event” or “providential occurence”.
Are they any Hispanophiles out there with any thoughts about that?

I took Spanish for four years, and I’m supposedly (on paper, at least), fluent.
Good Success is the proper translation.

I have read numerous Popes’ documents going back hundreds of years –all of them could’ve written these prophecies, seriously; the times, they aren’t a-changing, tho’ the physical world is. There’s always been sin, even in the Church, and there’s always been the same horrible consequences.
And it’s not the Marion Horvat (TIA) source problem so much as it is one more distraction from Fatima. Fatima is the Rodney Dangerfield of apparitions — it can’t get no respect! Gruner hijacks it, then there’s Medj and MMP competing, there was the big flap about not properly consecrating Russia with the Bishops, and many other apparitions which over the years, and possibly very crucial years, has dimmed Fatima’s urgency and requests. And indeed, who would desire to muddy the Fatima message for millions upon millions of people–and who would know exactly how to do so. Satan is slyer than we guess, and would absolutely play Catholic folks off of one another, diluting and delaying whatever he can of Fatima especially.
Maybe these prophecies were indeed meant to come forth more strongly in these times, and if they end up pointing folks to Fatima in some way, all the better. Unless we are absolutely ordered by Rome not to venerate a certain apparition, we can cling to it, but I truly believe the dark one is busy with all our devotions, as Mary is someone he hates– as are we.

The Greatest Catholic President
Garcia Moreno of Ecuador
1821-1875
Few Catholics today know the story of Gabriel Garcia Moreno, the devout, saintly leader who briefly reestablished the shining light of Christendom in a small corner of the world during the nineteenth century. Garcia Moreno’s role in Catholic history is so significant that the Blessed Virgin Mary (Our Lady of Good Success) specifically foretold his presidency more than two centuries before his birth.

Our Lady's Fatima message is not diluted by her earlier messages at Quito. Quito has slam-dunked our Lady's enemies.
She seems to have said: Cover up my message in Fatima will you? Well, here is an earlier one, about which you cannot mislead. It has been documented, authenticated, is iron-clad and meant for these times. Spread the word. I have purchased twenty of the DVD's to spread the news.
Blessed Mother: you are a wonder and the best of messengers come from the Triune God.
Viva Cristo Rey!
P.S. Thank you Marion Horvat, for your selfless work of faith. I am proud to be a regular reader of TIA. Keep the faith!
