“They have not been telling the truth, and I hate to say that people are lying, but here’s a situation where folks are lying.” – Barack Obama about the National Right to Life Committee.
Pretty strong statement, huh? Only one problem, it is a lie.
Here is the background. The NRLC has published information that accuses Obama of essentially supporting infanticide by voting against a bill to provide medical care for infants that survive an abortion attempt. Obama states that he voted against the bill because he thought that it would imperil abortion rights in general. He states that he would have supported the Federal version of the bill that included the caveat, “”Nothing in this section shall be construed to affirm, deny, expand, or contract any legal status or legal right applicable to any member of the species homo sapiens at any point prior to being born alive as defined in this section.”
So Obama accuses the NRLC of being liars for saying that he voted against the life saving care for infants. The problem is, he voted against a bill that had that very same language he said he would support.
[NY SUN] The dispute flared again last week when a leading opponent of legalized abortion, the National Right to Life Committee, posted records from the Illinois Legislature showing that Mr. Obama, while chairman of a Senate committee, in 2003, voted against a “Born Alive” bill that contained nearly identical language to the federal bill that passed unanimously, including the provision limiting its scope.
The group says the documents prove Mr. Obama misrepresented his record.
Even though the NRLC committee seems to have the goods on Obama’s record, he undauntedly continued to call that NRLC liars. He tried to defend the inconsistency by saying (aka lying) “was not the bill that was presented at the state level.”
Trouble is, it was. So, in order to prove that the NRLC is lying, Obama is forced to lie. Now before you begin to think that it is just the anti-choice crazies who say that Obama is wrong, let’s see what the Obama campaign itself has to say when confronted with the facts.
His campaign yesterday acknowledged that he had voted against an identical bill in the state Senate, and a spokesman, Hari Sevugan, said the senator and other lawmakers had concerns that even as worded, the legislation could have undermined existing Illinois abortion law.
So even the Obama campaign admits that Obama is misrepresenting (AKA lying) his record. So will Obama now apologize for calling the NRLC liars since his own campaign admits they were right and he is wrong. Don’t count on it.
I suppose it is safe to say that honesty is above Obama’s pay grade as well.

This is really not terribly surprising. What we need to do is really publish this everywhere, AFTER figuring out a way to make a short, effective “sound byte.” If we do not do this, it will just wash away under the frenzied craze of Obamaniacs and be forgotten. Does anyone have an idea? Let’s put it out there and see what happens!

It’s after 5 p.m. Monday and not one major media outlet has done a story on Obama’s lie. Some (like ABC News) covered Obama accusing the NRLC of lying but none have covered his admission that he was mistaken. Will check back in with this later.

The McCain campaign can get the message across to the MSM if they have the money for the ads. I’m going to send some more with congratulations for McCain’s stunning delivery of the prolife and conservative message on Saturday. I’m really starting to warm up to him now that I have heard the sound bites from the forum. This is what we’ve been waiting to hear from our candidate. The accompanying email will also say that if he picks Ridge or Lieberman or any pro-abortion candidate or liberal as a running mate, there won’t be any more donations. I think if they see their donations go up after scoring so strong for the prolife message, they will pay attention. Kit.
