The Palin family’s often discussed and much maligned decision not to kill their own child in the womb because he’d been diagnosed with Downs Syndrome is causing at least one doctor to worry that abortions of Downs Syndrome babies might decrease because people might be inspired by the Palins’.

The Globe and Mail article initially points out a couple who supports Palin’s decision but then the story gets real weird and ugly. Here’s how it goes from there:

But others fear Ms. Palin’s emergence as a parental role model sends a different message. As a vocal opponent of abortion, Ms. Palin’s widely discussed decision to keep her baby, knowing he would be born with the condition, may inadvertently influence other women who may lack the necessary emotional and financial support to do the same, according to André Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.

Dr. Lalonde said that above all else, women must be free to choose, and that popular messages to the contrary could have detrimental effects on women and their families.

“The worry is that this will have an implication for abortion issues in Canada,” he said.

Some reports indicate that nine out of ten babies diagnosed with Downs Syndrome are aborted. And this clown is worried that number might go down.

Could you imagine that somebody’s actual worry is that people might be inspired to love a child? Oh nooooooooo!!!! Plain and simple folks. This has nothing to do with “choice.” It’s eugenics. That’s it.
