You know how Saturday Night Live has mocked and demeaned Sarah Palin every Saturday for months, well last week in one sketch they also mocked uber-liberal talk show host Keith Olbermann. Well no sooner was the sketch done when Ben Affleck ran down the hall to offer a sycophantic apology to the lunatic on MSNBC.
According to NRO’s Media Blog, Olbermann told Time Magazine:
SNL and my Football Night In America show share adjoining studios, so upon my arrival yesterday, awaiting me was one of the cue cards from the bit, with Ben writing of the sketch: “Keith – Remember, a) I didn’t write this; b) it took years of study – fondly, Ben.”
Now, I’ve got to wonder if any of these liberal nincompoops ever apologized to Sarah Palin for their ridiculous and demeaning treatment of her. I doubt it.
Also, just a quick question. Can anyone remember one good joke made at Obama’s expense on that show? Just one?

Did you see McCain on SNL this weekend? I don’t normally watch it (except reruns from my parents’ younger years) but I was at a Halloween party with a bunch of liberals. I saw the opening and it was actually hilarious. McCain got a few good pops in there, particularly the 10 commemorative plates for each of the McCain-Obama town hall debates.
But yes, other than last weekend, I agree. From what I hear, Tina Fey was way too rough on Palin.

a) that doesn’t sound like an apology
b) Obama is too boring to be made fun of…seriously. You can be afraid of him, but he’s just not good material. You’d think the comedians/talk show hosts wouldn’t want him to win, on that basis alone. What will they talk about for 4 yrs if he wins? There won’t be anything to joke about.

Matthew, no disrespect, but it sounds like you don’t watch SNL much. Sarah was on the week before last and she was an incredible hit. She seemed very much at home and not only showed she can take a joke, but that the characterisations about her were false. If she didn’t feel at home with them, I doubt she would have appeared on the show.
She is just a likeable person and has a very unique, yet down-home personality, so she is easy to make fun of. Meanwhile, Obama is VERY boring (and can’t dance, as opposed to Sarah who clearly showed she can get down). So, it is harder to characterise him to a degree that makes him funny. PLUS, I really feel that there is so much “white guilt” going on that people are hesitant to do too much to mock him on that show.
Anyway, as an FYI, both Ben Affleck AND Tina Fey like Sarah and have said so publicly as well. Though of course neither will be voting for her…I mean for McCain

Perhaps SNL knows better than to do anything that will get them summoned to some sort of People’s Court / Truth and Reconciliation Commission under the rule of Obama.

What will they do if he is elected?

“From what I hear, Tina Fey was way too rough on Palin.”
Everyone associated with SNL who worked with Palin, has gone out of their way to praise her charm and grace, and how easy it was to work with her. Palin has said that Fey’s impersonation was “spot on.” The governor’s performance on SNL gave them the highest ratings in 14 years, and she was fantastic.
Whether she comes to Washington or not, I’ll always remember Sarah Palin as one classy lady — and a possible choice for President in 2012.

I thought they skewered Obama pretty well in this bit from the primary season:

I thought the Biden bit they did was funny. The bit about how “Obama will be tested in February. And we may do some things that don’t make sense. We may cede Florida back to Spain. But trust us.”

I find one of the biggest difference between many of the liberals and conservatives (but by no means definitive) is that the liberals can’t laugh at themselves.

Baron I don't know if it is a liberal vs conservative thing. But it is very clear that both McCain and Sarah have a very strong sense of humor and are able to poke fun at themselves, which to me is always a clear display of self-confidence.
Over this weekend, I heard the most horrible joke about Sarah, one that actually made me doubt my faith in humanity for a second. And I consider myself to have a pretty good sense of humor as well. But this joke, as well as the "protesters" who lined up in T-shirts saying Palin is a &$@# just showed me the virulence and hate that certain people have for her…and for no good reason. It is because there is no good reason, that people have sunken to these depths of insult masked as humor and just plain filth with no substance.
I guess I'm happy I can distinguish between the two. But I fully realize that every individual makes up their own mind on where "the line" is crossed.

Also, Olbermann is dangerous and unstable– Affleck probably feared for his life…
Meanwhile, Palin dresses as Tina Fey for Halloween.
No one’s going to apologize to Palin because she doesn’t ask for apologies… she has that Iron-clad, “i’m rubber, you’re glue” self esteem. She realizes that attacks say more about the attacker than the attack…
As for Olbermann… ell… I’d hate to be on his coop board! =)

There was a clever bit in the mock debate on SNL where Obama said he would deal with North Korea by using traditional diplomacy, and only after that failed, as a last resort, by playing the race card.
