So I’m reading the local newspapers and what do I see? A rash of animal sacrifices have been found in Philadelphia recently pretty close to my house. Investigators are unsure why.
Just this week three animals were found decapitated in a cemetery around Philadelphia. A beheaded rooster was also found hanging from a tree with a makeshift altar with candles nearby. A goat and another rooster were discovered Sunday morning.
And this was on top of other “sacrifices” found the past few weeks.
OK. Time to move?
The story is not getting a lot of play in the Philadelphia media. But this is what Google is made for. I did some quick research and put that incident together with an incident earlier this month when a jogger was running through popular Pennypack Park and spotted an awful sight. Two headless goats propped against a tree.
Upon an investigation, investigators discovered five goats in plain sight in the park. Investigators quickly discovered that things were even weirder. The goats had been tied up, drained of all blood, and each were beheaded. Their heads were placed next to the carcasses.
According to Philly.com, Police and the Pennsylvania SPCA are investigating what they believe was a form of ritual sacrifice. In all, they’ve discovered eight “sacrificed” goats and other animals around Philadelphia.
“It appears that all the blood had been drained from these animals, which is inherent of a ritualistic practice. It has some strange bizarre twists to it, but it is some type of a religious practice,” said George Bengal, director of investigations for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
And recently on Long Island, says Newsday, the body of a baby goat and its severed head were found near the side of a road in Islip Terrace.
The headless body was found inside a brown bag, while the goat’s decapitated head was found a few feet away, according to the Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
A police spokesman said the case was being treated as an animal cruelty investigation. Both police and the SPCA are investigating the incident, which the SPCA characterized as “a gruesome find.”
Some believe the practicioners of Santeria are responsible. “This is the time of year,” in the weeks around Christmas, “for a lot of religious sacrifices,” including satanic rituals, Bengal said.
The slaughters in the cemetery were unusual because they are believed to have occurred right there, Bengal said. “Usually, they do it in a house, then bag up the remains,” he said. The heads were wrapped in bandannas.
This is the kind of thing you read about but it’s a little weird to hear about it going on in your own backyard, especially in a park I’ve taken my children to quite often.

Get some blessed salt and sprinkle it around the park the next time you go.

My in-laws have a graveyard behind their house, Louisiana style. Their only problem is drug deals in the mausoleums. The police cracked down and it stopped.

Wait. The corpses are doing drugs now? What next?

Human sacrifices (“freedom of choice”) are next.

“a makeshift altar with candles nearby”
Why do Satanist always leave their altars, candles and what not at the scene of the crime? Unlike The Lord, whom we honor with precious metals and marble, Lucifer must be OK with coffee cups and overturned orange crates.

Yes, go around said areas and sprinkle blessed salt while praying. Get a priest to do blessings. And prayers of protection for your own neighbourhood.

C’mon folks, they were only celebrating diversity. Let’s not be intolerant, now.

This is not funny at all. I would be wary of taking my kids to that park in the future.

Where in Pennypack Park was this? The one news article I read didn’t say where. It wouldn’t surprise me if it were around the old Holmesburg Prison. I used to ride the bike path at Pennypack Park often and the section between Torresdale and State Road always creeped me out – I hardly ever rode there.
Anonymous, Pennypack Park is very large (though not as large as Fairmount Park) – I would be wary of taking my children anywhere near where animal sacrifices had taken place, but Pennypack Park is about 8 miles from end to end.

I heard this story too as I also live in Philadelphia.
Though the voodoo thing seems the most obvious explanation, I had another thought.
I recall reading that the Islamic terrorists groups that were kidnapping people in Iraq in years past would practice their decaptiation skills on goats before moving on to people.
Anyone else recall that?

I’m Anonymous. Sorry. I hate doing that.

Nothing surprises me about this occurring in Philthadelphia. Is this not the city that booed Santa Claus? That is just the famous headliner among a host of other incidents of which the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ (yeah, right) has no shame.
Pray? Yes, always! Move? Definitely! And bid that modern day Sodom good riddance.

When we speak of the Culture of Life and the Culture of Death, we rarely speak of the CULTs behind each.
The “cult” of the Culture of Life is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (using the word in its sociological sense – A system or community of religious worship and ritual), the cult of the Culture of Death is Satanic worship which includes sacrifices, even human.
We don’t like to talk about this, but it is a reality. There are various forms and groups of occult activity in our country and the world. There are fringe varieties (that do stuff like rituals in cemeteries and forests) and there are mainstream varieties that gather in elegant temples in the heart of our capital.
I think that we tend to frame the Culture of Death as a result of intellectual movements growing out of the enlightenment. We discount the organized forces of Satan and the reality of their cultic practices as being at best a fringe group of loonies.
Know thy enemy.

Those are African witchcraft rituals from practioners of santeria, palo mayombe (Spanish Caribbean), voodoo (French and English Caribbean), umbanda or kimbanda (Brazil). Any of them are demonic. The area should be blessed by a priest and blessed and exorcized salt and water should be sprinkled there.
Human sacrifices are found at abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood facilities.

This post reminded me of when we visted Mexico City to see Our Lady of Guadalupe. My friend Sylvia and I were walking around in Mexico City not really knowing where we were- looking a different outdoor markets and things. I started to feel really creeped out, and asked Sylvia to ask someone (she spoke Spanish) if we were in a bad part of town or something. My Guardian Angel is very good to warn me of such thing if I pay attention. Sylvia was told that if we turned to face the other direction we were at the excavated site of the human sacrifices. We turned and sure enough- there were the snake like forms and the steps leading up to the sacrificial table. It amazed me ( and still does) that the evil was palpable after all that time.
