According to Ashley Judd, Sarah Palin is evil because she wants to allow the killing of some wolves to prevent them from killing all the caribou:
And, according to Ashley Judd, Sarah Palin is evil because she wants to save these little people from being killed:
Boy, Sarah can’t win, huh?
Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund launched a Web-based campaign that targets Sarah Palin for attempting to control wildlife populations.
In a video premiering on the organization’s new Web site, EyeOnPalin.org, Judd takes aim at Palin for allegedly promoting the aerial killing of wolves in Alaska. “It is time to stop Sarah Palin and stop this senseless savagery,” Judd says in the ad.
Here is the latest lunacy from Judd. As stupid as this is, sadly I don’t think it ranks even in the top three of her worst movies:

She’s been in 3 movies? That many? I frankly have no idea who this Ashley Judd is.

I don’t think I understand species conservation. If they’re going extinct, goodbye and it was great to know them. If they’re interfering with human life, chase them away or knock them off.
February 4, 2009 at 11:30 am
The wildlife conservation goes both ways with predators. Here in CT, the wolves are pretty much gone, at least they are in my purple corner. There’s a wildlife refuge nearby and the deer population there explodes because there are no natural predators. They eat everything in sight, even stuff that’s not food, and consequently, the state DEP finds numerous dead deer who starved to death, as well as an ecosystem that is being destroyed. Other animals there have no food. Therefore, every few years, the DEP allows hunters to cull the deer population. And oh, the protests! Stop killing Bambi! Ridiculous.

HUH, wow, missing the POINT again.
The LOVELY Ms. Judd and DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE are in opposition over the method of the kill, not the thinning of an animal population (although MANY Alaskans site that this WOLF thinning is counter productive!). At any rate MANY HUNTERS belong to DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE because they have respect for their kills, FOR HUNTING, and have balls and stuff. They dont believe in Dick Cheneyesque CANNED HUNTS or sitting in the birdeye seat whilst maiming, shattering bones and letting their kills die of blood loss, pain, exhaustion and panic…this UNCLEAN KILL goes on for a good length of time…and IF YOU WANT TO BRING ABORTION AND RESPECT FOR LIFE into this, what is this monumental disconnect????
February 4, 2009 at 12:43 pm
I think it was the Dick Cheney slam that gave you away…just a little.

Ya think? hmmmm

I’m all for the Eating of tasty animals, but must agree with DEO’s point. Killing animals is morally acceptable, but cruelty is not:
2417 God entrusted animals to the stewardship of those whom he created in his own image.198 Hence it is legitimate to use animals for food and clothing. They may be domesticated to help man in his work and leisure. Medical and scientific experimentation on animals is a morally acceptable practice if it remains within reasonable limits and contributes to caring for or saving human lives.
2418 It is contrary to human dignity to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly. It is likewise unworthy to spend money on them that should as a priority go to the relief of human misery. One can love animals; one should not direct to them the affection due only to persons.
So it’s a valid point. Whether it’s a sound point (whether the ad is right on or a bad caricature of Palin of which there is much precedent for) I’ll let others hash out.

This is not a jaunt out into the backyard. This is Alaska. Sometimes a plane is the only way to get there. The population of wolves must be thinned so the caribou can survive which many people eat. Sorry, we can’t lay the wolves on a table surrounded by loved ones and euthanize them.
February 4, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Count me against the altar of animal worship…
There’s snow, not always drivable or walkable, plane is likely the only option during those rough winters (not that i have any experience in such a thing, I’m in California)
But leave it to liberals to complain about everything.
February 4, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Sorry, we can’t lay the wolves on a table surrounded by loved ones and euthanize them.
I would suggest there is lots of middle ground between “lay the wolves on a table surrounded by loved ones and euthanize them”, and “shoot them without regard to whether it was a clean kill.” I would say that ariel killing is not wrong in and of itself as the ad seems to imply, but if we are talking about shooting an animal to writhe in agony for hours, there’s no excuse. They should do it right, or find another way.

Arthur, this is NOT..OMG how will we get there to sort out the pesky wolf problem?? OH I KNOW, WE MUST TRAVEL BY PLANE…WE MUST, It´s THE ONLY WAY!!!
Are you kidding? It´s a cocky, disrespectful sport that they charge money for…it´s mostly for rich kids!!! Hey, Palin LIKES IT!! YAY, lets go. CAN THIS WOMAN BE A SHINING EXAMPLE OF ANYTHING GOOD??? From DROP OUTS to lets nuke BELUGA WHALES, she is a shining example of WHAT NOT TO DO.
The people of Alaska haved voted AGAINST the practice of aerial preditor TWICE, siting it´s cruelty AND counterproductivity. It´s BS, more Palin BS.
As I said HUNTERS DONÑT DO THIS, serial killers do this. MAIM, KILL, TOY WITH, LET IT BLEED; LET it HURT AND LETS PROLONG ALL IT FOR a fun filled time, I´ve got all day, what about YOU??? An animal feeling panic running for it´s life on shattered bones and not undertsanding why the sky is shooting at him IS GOOD. MAN at his finest. This is just the stuff that Palin has no qualms about.
YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THE FEEDBACK in Alaskan newspapers. They are NOT amused. I dont blame them. I hunt, this is not hunting.

Remember the guy in the german helmet on the TV show, Laugh In? With regard to the beautiful Ms. Judd, very interesting … but stupid.
February 4, 2009 at 3:01 pm
And one more thing, Sarah Palin is beautiful and has an inner beauty that most of Hollywood elites will never attain, let alone aspire to.
February 4, 2009 at 3:05 pm
Point taken on treating the wolves humanely. I still don’t see how people can support animal rights and also support abortion which kills millions of innocent animals every year – the human kind no less. A quick google search reveals Judd’s public support of abortion.
The same logic goes for the argument that culling the wolf population hurts the ecosystem rather than helping it. Killing our young hurts, not helps, society.
From a Salon article on the Palin-wolf affair, in 2007 when the state had a $150 bounty for wolf paws “[s]tate officials were disappointed when only 115 wolves were killed from the air.” An Anchorage Daily News article from 2005 says, “Alaska’s abortion count grew from 1,806 in 2003 to 1,937 last year [2004], an increase of more than 7 percent, according to the state Bureau of Vital Statistics new abortion report.” How can someone be outraged by a hundred or two wolves per year but not nearly 2000 humans.
I can understand why someone might value neither human or animal life, or human life but not animal life, or treat humans and animals as equals. The first values no life and the other two slightly misunderstand the nature of the distinction between humans an animals. The positions are logical, they just start from faulty premises. But how does someone get the idea that animal life is more important than human life? What’s the logic behind such a belief?
February 4, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Brian, I’m starting to put the pieces together because I thought Ashley was at worst ambivalent on abortion. But from a quick search it seems she is an outspoken advocate as opposed to her mother. So you are right, it is a warped sense of right and wrong. But as they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally. She may have wrong reasons and an offensive sense of priority; and may only care about wolves as far as its usefulness as a stick to beat Palin with, but if ariel killing is as it is described by DEO, then it’s actually a pretty good stick regardless of who is doing the whacking.
February 4, 2009 at 3:31 pm
DEO said: “MAIM, KILL, TOY WITH, LET IT BLEED; LET it HURT AND LETS PROLONG ALL IT FOR a fun filled time, I´ve got all day, what about YOU???”
Is DEO psychic? He knows what these hunters are thinking? Wow. Now, that’s talent.
February 4, 2009 at 4:40 pm
*As long as it’s…Safe, legal and rare.
*I personally wouldn’t kill a wolf, but I think a person has to choose for him/her self.
*It’s a difficult decision.
*I wouldn’t want the Alaskans burdened with wolves.
*What about the health of the hunter?
*The wolves might be abandoned by their pack, that would be a terrible life.
*If we end poverty there wouldn’t be a need for the culling
*If we end war there wouldn’t be a need…
*If we end injustice there wouldn’t be a need…
*Free contraception for all Wolves!

every person has good qualities
and bad.
the fact that she wants to murder wolves
is bad
the fact that she wants to save babies is good 🙂
