Remember as you read this awful story that our President Barack Obama would have no problem with this as he fought against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.
This is a heartbreaking story reported in the Buffalo News but I have to wonder how this is different from what abortion clinics do every single day:
Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.
Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.
Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.
“I don’t care what your politics are, what your morals are, this should not be happening in our community,” said Tom Pennekamp, a Miami attorney representing Williams in her lawsuit against Renelique (ren-uh-LEEK’) and the clinic owners.
The state Board of Medicine is to hear Renelique’s case in Tampa on Friday and determine whether to strip his license. The state attorney’s homicide division is investigating, though no charges have been filed. Terry Chavez, a spokeswoman with the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office, said this week that prosecutors were nearing a decision.
Renelique’s attorney, Joseph Harrison, called the allegations at best “misguided and incomplete” in an e-mail to The Associated Press. He didn’t provide details.
The case has riled the anti-abortion community, which contends the clinic’s actions constitute murder.
“The baby was just treated as a piece of garbage,” said Tom Brejcha, president of The Thomas More Society, a law firm that is also representing Williams. “People all over the country are just aghast.”
People are upset by this story because the baby was born and discarded but how can they argue that it was fine to kill the baby just moments before? These people have an utter contempt for human life both inside and outside the womb. Disgusting.

President Obama is a severly amoral and sick human being.

What I found almost as awful as the story itself is the headline that accompanies it in many papers. I wrote a post about it on my blog at
http://weareacatholicfamily.blogspot.com/2009/02/deadly-word-games-badly-botched.html
As I wrote on one newspaper site:
Have we gone so blind that we cannot see that this was not, as the headline egregiously asserts, a “badly botched abortion”?!
When a baby is delivered alive, smashed onto the floor and then suffocated in a plastic bag, the CRIME is properly called MURDER! Even the most hardened abortion supporter should be able to see this! No baby or mother deserves to go through what this baby and mother went through! And, the murderers need to be charged and tried!
I guess we have certifiably lost all sense of shame. Pathetic!
+++
On second thought, though, I should have drawn the obvious connection between this murder and the same crime of murder in a “successful” abortion.

If the doctor is not tried for murder, then why do we even have homicide laws?

“If the doctor is not tried for murder, then why do we even have homicide laws?”
To use against those murderers who also just happen to be inconvenient to us.

Most of my acquaintances who support abortion do so on the argument that “a woman controls her own body” and cannot be forced to maintain a “parasitic” fetus. But even if one accepts this argument, it utterly fails the moment the child is viable outside the womb, which medical progress is moving to earlier and earlier in the pregnancy.
I completely fail to see how one can permit a “mother” to kill a child who is viable outside her body, and have never encountered an abortion supporter who will back that position. But they do manage to change the subject. The fascinating thing about the case reviewed here is that it raises the issue in such clear terms. Dare we hope for court decisions that may finally produce some progress in the defense of life?

Oh, my goodness! I’m absolutely horrified.

Don’t you know, Matt? The birth canal has magical properties… it can turn something that’s “Not human” into a human being!!!!
Which is why we should all be suspicious of children born of C-section……
I’m actually suprised that people are suprised by this story…. Why wouldn’t a clinic break BAIPA? They break all the other laws we give them (parental notification, statutory rape reporting…)
And if you spend all day, every day, breaking the natural law and get paid to do it, why on EARTH would you care about man-made laws?
February 6, 2009 at 4:05 pm
The cold hard fact of the matter is this young woman went to this “clinic” to have her child killed and discarded. That is exactly what occured.
That is what occurs, every day, in EVERY abortion clinic…whether the mother is 23 weeks along, as this young mother was, or 3 weeks along.
The reported “moral outrage” on the “pro-choice” side of the aisle, is very puzzling. And very telling.
I guess it wasn’t “sanitized” enough to make it palatable to them.
If any good can come of this situation, maybe it will force a few advocates, as well as fence-sitters, to squarely face the realities of abortion. It doesn’t get much clearer than this, does it?

“There is no God
who condones
taking the life
of an innocent human being.”
Barack Obama Feb 5, 2009
Questions anyone?

Dr. Renelique’s butchering license was yanked this morning. Who knows what state he might try to open up in next, but it won’t be Florida. Unless he operates as an unlicensed surgeon, but no abortionist would ever break the law, right?
February 6, 2009 at 7:13 pm
I don;t understand… why does he need a license….
I mean, don’t they tell us it’s an inconsequential procedure, and that there’s no need for parental notification? (Unlike the pernicious butchery that is ear-piercing or…. dispensing over the counter drugs in a high school!)
What I can never understand is how the pro-choicers accuse US of being illogical…..
Trying to understand their cognitive dissonance gives me a migraine…..

I don’t think they teach when life begins at Harvard. And you need to be above a certain pay grade to understand it.
February 7, 2009 at 10:18 pm
Well, if Obama is asked the “when does life begin?” question again he can’t answer that it’s above his pay grade now, can he. After all, doesn’t the buck stop with him?
February 8, 2009 at 2:37 am
It should end with him, but politicians have a way of passing it. If FOCA passes then they’ll say that it’s the will of the people. Hopefully, pro-life can lobby the legislature to kill the bill or raise a lot of legal challenges with the judiciary re: its constitutionality. Nothing is impossible with God, but we need to pray.

This isn’t Obama’s fault, you ninnies. You would rather give the woman a coat hanger? Or sell your righteous guns to the Mexican drug cartels
March 10, 2009 at 10:24 am
No I would not want to give the woman a coat hanger unless she’s hanging a coat. Why would I want to help anyone murder their own child?
March 10, 2009 at 1:23 pm
I would need to read the actual article to know what happened. There are not enough facts here. However the way you introduce the story is wrong. Both Pro-life and Pro-choice people would be appalled by this if it is true. I am Pro-choice and if this is true-I am disgusted. Do not make me into “your enemy”. Don’t make the issue bigger than a human life. When Pro-lifer’s start to think they are the only ones with morals some of your more crazy members start to kill adults in the name of saving babies. That is just plain wrong too.
March 10, 2009 at 1:35 pm
I went back and read the news report and that is sick! I cannot believe that the man working there would do that. This is wrong and he should be tried for murder. The hiding of the fetus was sick too, I am glad that the people who worked there came forward with the truth and tattled on him and this happening. Now the girl who had the abortion is not innocent either. She was lying to herself about how far along she was. She must have lied to the staff too cause they will not do an abortion on a baby that is grown. Except in this case by the creep who was working and killed the baby. This is just sad all around!
