President Obama intentionally initiated a golden age of Biden gaffes for the next few years by throwing his Vice President to the wolves during his national press conference Monday. It’s truly a perfect storm. I’ll explain.
It started with Joe Biden saying something stupid and Fox News reporter Major Garret asked President Obama about it, according to a Fox News transcript:
GARRETT: Mr. President, at a speech Friday that many of us covered, Vice President Biden said the following thing about a conversation the two of you had in the Oval Office about a subject he didn’t disclose.
“If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, if we stand up there and we really make the tough decisions, there’s still a 30 percent chance we’re going to get it wrong.”
Since the vice president brought it up, can you tell the American people, sir, what you were talking about? And if not, can you at least reassure them it wasn’t the stimulus bill or the bank rescue plan and if, in general, you agree with that ratio of success, 30 percent failure, 70 percent success?
OBAMA: You know, I don’t remember exactly what Joe was referring to… (LAUGHTER)…not surprisingly.
But let me try this out. (MORE LAUGHTER)
Here’s the thing. Are you telling me that Joe’s stupid comment was not discussed ad infinitum in the Oval office? A comment that was all over the blogosphere for well over two days, wasn’t discussed in the two days before Obama’s first press conference? Come on. Give me a break. That wasn’t an off-the-cuff remark Obama made. It was planned. Obama’s team made a calculated decision to laugh it off. And that’s probably a smart move but with that one move, Obama has signalled to the press corps that it’s open season on Joe Biden.
Obama has essentially invited the press to laugh at his Vice President.
And like I said, it’s a perfect storm because here you have a situation where the press finds itself unable or unwilling to say anything negative about the President so they’re going to go ferociously after Joe Biden. Expect a spike in the amount of Joe’s gaffes to get reported in coming months. And their mocking treatment of Joe will act as cover for the mainstream press who will point to their rough treatment of Joe as a sign of even handedness.
But the hilarity doesn’t end there because then you have Joe Biden who may be the most vain man on the east coast who will not be pleased at all with turning into a national joke so he’ll continually court microphones and cameras in an effort to seem relevant and smart. And thus you have a spiraling effect where Joe talks himself into irrelevance. Joe will actually court his own destruction. And Obama will watch him do it.
Joe Biden doesn’t know it but he’s swimming with sharks and he’s wearing his meat suit. It’s not going to be pretty.

Gosh, Matthew. You are almost making me feel sorry for Biden. Almost.
Its all those poor unborn children he thinks aren’t worthy enough to live I really feel sorry for.

I wonder if that rosary – you know, the one he was going to shove up someone’s behind – might not come in handy.

I have noticed an increase in heat on Nancy Pelosi, too. Anything to take the heat off their man. Oh, brother!

Interesting prediction; I’ll keep an eye for it.

Just goes to show you what the Deathites think of their erstwhile “Catholic” allies. Once people like Pelosi and Biden have served their purpose, they are thown under the bus because, let’s face it, if someone is willing to betray their faith, they are willing to betray anything. They’re not “pure” post-Christian “enlightened” folk. Traitors and turncoats are the most expendable commodities in any campaign. Makes you wonder why they thought those 30 pieces of silver were worth it…

Good point. Keep an eye on Doug Kmiec and see if he gets expended.

You make a very good point about the liklihood of the press stoking an image of Biden as a buffoon, because they certainly can’t poke fun at the Obamessiah.
I also thought this willingness of Obama to make such a snide and ungracious reference to his own vice president was a very telling moment. Quite often Obama’s snarky comments illuminate his character (or lack thereof).
Every day brings some breathtaking new power grab by our new lord and master. Apparently he has decided to take over the Census from the Commerce department, giving him convenient control over the composition of voting districts, etc. And NO ONE says boo.
But I sure am glad they took the time to ask his opinion about A-Roid during that press conference, aren’t you?
