Stop the presses! Up until this point, the judges panel has decided the winners in each of the previous contests. But, after hearing so many heartfelt pleas from our readers in favor of their choice for most destructive force in the culture, CMR has decided that we cannot make this decision alone. In fact, we will not make this decision at all, you will. Vote in in each of these Fatal four contest to decide who will make it to the championship game. If so inclined, tell us your reasoning in the combox.

I’m going with ACLU over Obama although Obama’s taken an early lead.
Folks, ACLU is gonna’ be around a lot longer than Obama.
Oprah vs. VOTF looks a lot tighter.

Gotta go with Oprah over VOTF. Irksome though the latter may be, outside of the Catholic world, I’m sure most folks in the US, to say nothing of the world, would say, “Voices of the Who?”

ACLU and Oprah.
ACLU tops Obama because, as Matthew said above, they’ll be around longer (and they’ve been around longer, doing damage).
Oprah over VOTF because she has a longer reach and influences a heck of a lot more people. She shapes a lot more opinions than VOTF could ever hope to.
With those picks, I’d have a hard time picking a winner. Oprah sways the “common man” and the ACLU gets stupidity enshrined in law (as if lawyers needed any help enshrining stupidity).

I think VOTF intends to correct things. It is always hard when you’re breaking new ground and going against customary ways. But one would be remiss if one does not try to correct administrative practices that exposes the church’s resources to misappropriation.
Oprah may not out to ruin culture deliberately but she does not enoble it either. So, I think she causes more damage compared with VOTF.

Oprah! Oprah! Oprah!

Obama vs Oprah:
“At last, the circle is complete.”
“I made you, and I can DESTROY you!”
The possibilities are endless.

ACLU beats Obama hands down. It’s been around longer, done more damage, and will continue long after he’s left office.
Oprah beats VotF easy. Her new age, craziness is taken as some enlightened method that will destroy the souls of those who follow. No doubts there.

Ooh, I don’t know. ACLU may be around longer, but the damage is more like a slow leak of good old American values and morality. Obama may be short lived, but the damage he’ll do will much more catastrophic, IMO.
I definitely have to go with Oprah and agree that outside of orthodox Catholic circles, VotF is completely unknown and cannot do the same wide spread damage the Oprah can do.

I voted for the ACLU. The slow leak is easier to ignore as “no big deal.” Then suddenly society is rolling on the rims and the whole car is damaged. At least with a blowout one can pull over right away and fix it.

Too bad Notre Dame can’t step into the fray. Johnny-come-lately’s to this culture war.

Uh oh… it looks like we’re going to be accused of being rabid racists!! Someone better pick up the votes for ACLU and VOTF – we wouldn’t want to be accused of bigotry!

I voted for the ACLU because they’ve been subverting our culture for years with no end in sight.
Oprah wins out over VOTF because many people believe whatever she says, no questions, just because she’s Oprah.
