Cardinal George, head of the USCCB, fully supports Fr. Barron and Word on Fire.
His Eminence has asked that Word on Fire be a separate organization from USCCB, but the amount of support from the Catholic Bishops has been outstanding.
A holy priest once told me that we look at the question of the “origins” of Christianity and its relationship to the pagan world in the wrong way. Instead of seeing Christianity as stealing ideas from the pagans, he said the truth found in the pagan world was what those cultures remembered from the time of Adam and Eve. The Israelites as the chosen people had God to keep them from falling further into error, and then they reminded the pagan world of what they forgot.

This is the kind of the the Bishops’ conference should be doing.
