Miguel Diaz wrote an article entitled: “Outside the Survival of Community there is no Salvation.” I don’t even know what that means but something tells me I wouldn’t like it. Sounds a little “liberation-y” to me.
With Obama’s recent nominations to the Supreme Court and to the Ambassadorship to the Vatican, one might start to believes Obama needs the Catholic and Hispanic vote.
Obama’s recent nominees Sotomayor and Diaz are two creative people. One writes her own Constitution while the other writes his own Catechism.
Commonweal’s Cathleen Kaveny was so excited about Diaz’s nomination that she left her finger on the exclamation point key. Here’s what she wrote:
We have a Hispanic theologian as an ambassador to the Vatican! He’s a Rahner scholar and an ND Ph.D.
By the way, I was misquoted. I said he wasn’t a “big donor or a big politician” . . . not “professor”!
Now, with that first exclamation point, is she excited that Diaz is is Hispanic or a theologian or that we have a nominee? Hard to tell. Maybe all equally.
And the last exclamation point is just over the top. I was misquoted!!!!!!!!!!!! What are we to take from that exclamation point? Happiness that she was quoted? Or anger that she was misquoted? Not sure.
Anyway, I was pretty sure that Commonweal would love the nomination. And they did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, some enterprising blogger has to volunteer to read all of Diaz’s columns and articles and books so that we can have fun dissecting them. I nominate American Papist. He’s got a degree in that stuff.

If I have one pet peeve, it is the overuse of the exclamation point!!!!!!!
Especially when used in conjucntion with the POTUS!!!!!!!

Liberation theology is dangerous territory that sometimes includes violent reactions to governments, Marxism, and radical rejection of Christian doctrine.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at the nomination of a Liberation Theologian … !

But he has such a COMPELLING life story!!! Surely that’s worth a few exclamation points!

Yes, we all know how much the writers of this blog hate hispanics. File this under another of your biggoted nonsensical rants.

Commonweal, Rahner, ND, appointed by Obama, supposed to be pro-life but backs pro-choice people and supports them, and the cake– “Outside the Survival of Community there is no Salvation.”
I really hope the Vatican does its homework on this guy. Just from the above he doesn’t have much esteem from me.

I might actually be up for that! I’ll start googling and see what I can find.
