As Patrick has written in his excellent post, Ruth Bader Ginsburg has done the unforgivable. She’s told the truth about what many secularist leftists really believe. She said:
Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.
Now, much attention will be rightly given to the question of which “populations” are we talking about that “we don’t want to have too many of.” I wonder how we’ll identify those members of the population. Maybe make them wear an armband or something or will their skin color be enough to identify them?
But the part of her statement which intrigues me even more is the “we.” When she says there are populations that “we” don’t want too many of, I can’t help but wonder who “we” is.
Is it simply a majority vote? A consensus of lawyers, college professors and media types? Supreme Court Justices? Legislators?
Who exactly is the “we” in her statement? This worries me because I’m pretty sure that I’m not part of the “we” and at some point I may become part of the “population” that the “we” wants to reduce.

Good question. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's the "educated" and "enlightened" in gov't.

In Germany of the 1930s, "we" would have referred to Jews.

You guys are dirty Philly Catholics! Of COURSE you're part of the group that needs reducing!! And you vote REPUBLICAN. Really, you should just to the responsible thing and volunteer to be reduced immediately!
Just remember- these liberals don't really care about the poor except as a constiuency to be manipulated. Which is why they can't understand the Mother Teresa's of the world….

Just remember, "we" always starts with "me." I've seen lots of people try to define who's a person and who's not, but for some strange reason no one ever comes up with a definition that puts themselves in the non-person category.

I wonder if, given her own race, she's thinking of blacks, or merely(!) the "retarded".

My bet is she's thinking of "white trash" type people. The drug-sotted idiots, and rednecks. (I'm always amused that my folks would be ID'd as "white trash"– even though they both have college degrees. They just don't shove them in folks' faces.)
Because, y'know, THAT's not bad…..
