Some pretty profound words from Jon Voight including these: “They are trying to take away God’s first gift to man; Free Will.”

I don't think Jon Voight has any credibility when it comes to theology or morality. He can have his opinion, but that and $3.00 will buy you a cup of coffee.

To paraphrase St. Thomas Aquinas, "What is said is what matters, not who said it."

It is nice to see one of the "celebs" state the truth. He may never work again–but he spoke the truth.

Annon. If Voight is a registered voter, his action in the voting booth is credible enough.

I understand Aquinas said that the first and greatest good was life (because without it we can have no other goods) – therefore properly speaking life would be the first gift to man.
Nevertheless, I agree with the general thrust of the video, and this is more a political discussion than a theological one, so it is forgivable.
On the other hand, it can be dangerous also to enshrine merely 'freedom' as the greatest good, is only a political good. I think a stronger argument against ObamaCare would also contain mention of his abortion/euthenasia/refusing care policies that go not only against freedom, but more importantly, life itself.

euthAnasia (from the greek eu- : good, and thanatos: death) – Youth in Asia.

Sebastian S.,
When I was younger, I actually thought that's what that word meant. I also though suicide had something to do with sewers. 😀

The last statement that Mr.Voight read, is also applicable to The Church and what happened after Vatican II.

Voight gave an interview to a Polish Catholic magazine a year or two back in it he said that though he had drifted away from the faith for much of his life, in recent years he has returned to it and is loyal to Church teachings. Of course he is no theologian (few of us are) but we can't hold his past views and moral failings against him. The Church is a hospital for sinners and he has checked in.

And Voight may be more loyal to Church teachings than trained theologians from any number of fine [former] Catholic institutions.

Well, I'll take an appeal from Jon Voight before Obama. Some of his so-called "Top Minds" just plain scare the hell out of me. We better wake up…
