Former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter is questioning why Glenn Beck makes as much money as he does. On the Joy Behar show, Carter asked: “How do you defend – how do you justify paying him big salaries and I don’t get it. I really don’t.”
Well firstly, “paying him big salaries?” Plural? What is she channeling Yakov Smirnoff here? Is English…how you say…second language mebbe?
And let’s be clear here. Lynda Carter is rich and famous because she looked great in a red white and blue bathing suit that was two sizes too small for her. That’s it. She was beautiful. No doubt. But I find it a little difficult when a woman who made millions because she’s willing to run around in a tiny bathing suit on national television criticizes the “salaries” of a television host who people tune in to because they’re worried about the future of the country and the only person on television who seems as worried as they are is Glenn Beck.
So in short Lynda Carter paid many monies to squeeze into super suit. Good. Beck paid many many moneys to speak is bad. OK. Got it?
You know, if this keeps up I’m going to start thinking that celebrities who are rich and famous solely because they’re good looking often say silly things.

I caught a little bit of that last night when I couldn't sleep… what a train wreck.

Judging by her comments the headband she had was too tight also. Loss of blood to the brain will impair your thinking.

Subvet, I thought of you while writing this because you have the pic of Wonder Woman on your site.
I wondered if you were going to come to her defense.
MommaLlama,
So you were the only other person watching Joy Behar's show last night, huh?

Uh, might want to check your grammar before criticizing hers 🙂
It is very sad for conservatives that we are represented by the likes of Glenn Beck. But he is paid the big salaries for the same reason Carter was – because people want to watch him. It's all about revenue, and he brings it in. It is the American people who watch him who justify his salary. It's sad that conservatives would want to watch him, but they do, so he gets the big bucks.

Matthew I have the picture of WW to compliment my wife. She is definetly a "Wonder Woman".
I'd orignally thought of Xena, The Warrior Princess but didn't want to have my head ripped off if it displeased her.
No, she doesn't read your blog so I'm (relatively) safe.

I agree, Michael. If only all commentary could be dry and polite and boring. Why, look at what wonderful examples Liberals bring us!
Chris Matthews very civily wants Rush Limbaugh's head to explode, and Keith Olbermann sweetly compared Michelle Malkin to a beat up bag of meat. And, Joy, well, if one can't find the apex of civility in how she talks about Sarah Palin, one simply isn't looking! Such sweehearts all!
Yes, if only we could stop getting Glenn Beck, a man running for the office of being entertaining, to stop being good at his job. But such is the state of the world that people are still able to buy goods and services that you yourself don't approve of. It's simply shameful.

Man, the celebutards are everywhere! (Shameless blog plug alert!) Here's more, this time Russell Simmons of hip-hop fame.

is english mebbe a second language for you?

Well said, William. I love how certain right-wingers continue to mope about the supposed lack of good conservative punditry when the left is represented by the likes of those you allude to.

I don't watch Glenn Beck because I don't have cable, and the few times I've seen the show at other people's homes I haven't cared for it. But I do listen to him on the radio. He's very entertaining. I used to listen to him before he had the TV show, because he was hilarious. Now he's mostly political, and I just turn him off when he says anything too nuts.
But he's still very funny a lot of the time, and he talks about things that you just don't hear on "regular" radio or television — same with Rush and Sean Hannity. They are all entertainers who want ratings, they are not leaders or newsmen. Right now, their schtick happens to coincide with a weird time in our country, when the super-liberals have taken over and are trying to do things that should outrage us all.
I think it's outrageous that the sort of topics they've been covering are not on the evening news and the major newspapers. They would not be where they are today if the regular media were doing its job and if the politicians were the men and women they should be. Then the right-wing radio hosts would be on the fringe again. But now it seems like the fringe has gotten really, really wide…

William,
If we're justifying our conservative commentators lack of depth and intelligence based on the quality of the commentators on the left (relativism, anyone?). then we are in a sadder state than I thought. There is nothing civil about Matthews or Olberman, and the latter especially is nothing but a goon. That doesn't have anything to do with the fact, however, that as conservatives we should desire truly intelligent conservative commentary, such as that provided by Newt Gingrich, instead of cheap entertainment that poses as conservative leadership from the likes of Beck.

that as conservatives we should desire truly intelligent conservative commentary, such as that provided by Newt Gingrich, instead of cheap entertainment that poses as conservative leadership from the likes of Beck.
Why can't we have both? Why can't we have entertaining and enlightening people like Rush and Laura while also enjoying more, err, erudite commentators like Krauthammer, Will (well, some of the time), Hanson, and all the wonderful people at AEI and Heritage.
Frankly I am tired of this topic, but those who continue to moan about Beck (who I am personally no big fan of) are really wearying.

I personally think Beck is great… he's informed and a great showman. He will criticize both left and right. I love how people like Lynda Carter and Michael Moore are offended by other people's salaries, but think they "earn" theirs. Beck does a lot of research for his show so he is paid for more than just his on-air time. I am glad someone cares as much as he does that obummer is ruining America. He has helped take down Acorn, and SEIU and the czars better watch their backs.

I've wondered why so many are successful even though I understand the economics of it. For example, Howard Stern will have some pornstar on, talk about how hot she is and how he wants to d..dle her, and everybody loves it!? Hence a Cirus contract and bookoo millions. Kind of the same with Imus. Watch someone with a cowboy hat make innocuous remarks, act like a jackass, and get payed eight figure salaries. Supply and demand, yes. But why are people so gungho about this? And why someone as talented as Matthew (smirk) not receiving the adulation of millions??
I'm watching Glenn Beck and he's pretty entertaining (even though he seems to be trying to be serious). Talking about Chinese dictator admirerers, vast conspiracies, etc. Must see TV!!
Wonderwoman series was my favorite when I was very young. It was extremely dramatic when she was in a confined space, couldn't stretch out her arms and do her whirly dirby thingee. Yet it always worked out for her somehow.

Eh, I'll meet you half-way, Michael.
I'd love to have more intelligent Conservatives, sure, but if you think Newt fits the bill, you obviously haven't read "Buck Wild" by Stephen Slivinski. I encourage you to do so, then you might be as angry as the rest of us.
And I think a country without Glenn would just be worse. It's not exactly like his rhetoric is "keeping the good people down." I'd rather have a guy I can agree with 90% of the time than no one at all.

How about Steven Colbert? I think he (video) does a good job.
