Randall Terry is running a contest on his website called the “Burn in Hell” Contest and he’s calling on pro-lifers to burn Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in effigy on Halloween, video it, send it to Terry, and win prizes such as books autographed by Terry.
Oh boy. On the video below (available at his site) he gives instructions how to download pictures of Reid and Pelosi and get them all nice and ready for faux fiery perdition and how to get local press to cover it.
Who does this help? Seriously. I mean other than Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. And don’t give me the “oh he’s just raising awareness.” Because there isn’t anybody who’s not hooked up to life support that doesn’t know that abortion is a hot button issue in the Democrat’s healthcare plan.
This kind of thing turns off the very people who we’re trying to convince. But as is typical of Terry’s antics, they appear to be more about Randall Terry getting noticed than shining a spotlight on the issue of abortion.

Here's a short blog from a non-believer who seems to see things rather straight-forwardly. A bit of language that may be undesirable by some, but otherwise, nothing offensive.

"Burning people in effigy is not really consistent with loving one's enemies."
Right. It's actually more consistent with how the American colonists behaved leading up to the Revolution. And we all know how "productive" that was.
Are you for real? This is 2009 not 1776. We have mass media and direct access to our representatives, which is exactly what the colonists were protesting for (remember? no taxation without representation?) Burning flags, effigies, draft-cards etc is just plain stupid. It shows a lack of class, dignity and the ability to successfully form a coherrent argument. It's the type of things we expect in the Islamic world. NOT my country!

I have to view Randall Terry as an unregenerate soul hiding behind the cover of the Catholic Church. This man abandoned his family, violated his marriage covenant because he was burning in adulterous lust for his secretary. After "running off with the secretary ", he then switched churches to justify his adultery by having a priest declare his first marriage invalid. While his actions may be technically legal under Catholic law, they show a heart full of depravity and wickedness, and a man who is now "walking according to the flesh and not according the Spirit"(Rom 8)
If Randall Terry were walking according to the Spirit, he would not be encouraging us to burn Nancy Pelosi in effigy but encouraging us to pray to God for her to repent and be reconciled to God before it is too late.
