The President and the media find some very odd things inscrutable.
Case in point: Jake Tapper from ABC News reported that when asked about the motivations of mass murderer Nidal Hasan, President Obama said:
Well, look, we — we have seen, in the past, rampages of this sort. And in a country of 300 million people, there are going to be acts of violence that are inexplicable. Even within the extraordinary military that we have — and I think everybody understands how outstanding the young men and women in uniform are under the most severe stress — there are going to be instances in which an individual cracks. I think the questions that we’re asking now and we don’t have yet complete answers to is, is this an individual who’s acting in this way or is it some larger set of actors? You know, what are the motivations? Those are all questions that I think we have to ask ourselves. Until we have these answers buttoned down, I’d rather not comment on it.
But Obama didn’t wait for all the answers to be “buttoned down” when he declared a group of police officers “stupid” for arresting an African-American college professor.
Obama didn’t wait until things got “buttoned down” before commenting on the murder of late-term abortionist George Tiller. I don’t remember Scott Roeder’s motivations being inscrutable to the President or to the press for that matter.
In fact, within hours of Tiller’s death, Obama released a statement which had drawn conclusions as to the killer’s motivations. Obama said:
I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.
The White House even ordered US Marshalls to protect abortion clinics as if Tiller’s killer was just the spearhead of a looming rampage by murderous pro-lifers around the country.
On the other hand, do you recall when pro-lifer James Pouillon was killed while holding his pro-life sign. All of a sudden, the media couldn’t understand at all what the killer’s motivation could be. Everything seemed in a haze. Days and days went by while pundits assured us that the murder likely wasn’t abortion related because he killed someone else too as if that meant anything other than he hated pro-lifers and some other people too.
And now we have a mass killer who screams “Allahu Akbar” before gunning down US military men and women and the President and the media are stumped.
Abortionists get protection but the military gets diversity? And should the parameters of diversity in the military really include those who want to protect America and those who want to destroy it?

Ugh. He did not lose it. He did not crack. He cold-bloodedly planned the attack on his fellow soldiers. He started shooting at the station in the Soldier Readiness Processing Center which has the most soldiers bottlenecked: the medical. It takes longer to get your blood drawn than it does to sign a power of attorney.
This just completely disgusts me.

PS How do I know about the SRP? My husband was there not one week before. My blood still runs cold thinking about that.

What's even more ridiculous is that Obama appointed 2 "devout Muslims" to the Department of Homeland Security;
Arif Alikhan and Kareem Shora. Don't y'all feel just that much safer now?

Matthew,
Great minds think alike! ;~)

I'm not saying you're wrong. Just playing devil's advocate here: maybe, just maybe, the president didn't think he could comment because the FBI was still investigating terrorist organization links.

I speak as a veteran. Technically, this man is not a terrorist. He commmitted an act of treason. In my opinion, he is worse than a terrorist. He is a coward. In my short time as a soldier, I saw men "snap" from the pressure of being away from their families and being locked-down. I do not believe this is the case of this man. As an officer, he knew exactly where to go to accomplish his mission. He should be tried for murder and treason. Our Commander-in-Chief should have the balls to say as much.

Anon, 11:06, he's probably already sterilized by PP doctors.

I have *NO FAITH* in Obama doing the right thing. I'm quite certain had this been some white, Christian male, Obama would be all over it, demanding justice, demanding the death penalty, etc. But because the murderer is a Muslim, he won't.
I am, down to my bones, disgusted with Obama.

My heart sank when Obama won the election. This man and his cronies IMHO, is going to lead America down the path to ruin.
God help us!

SJ Robert – only if WE, the American people, let him.
FYI, this story to me epitomises the difference between Catholics and Mohammedans. One kills at random, the other protects life at all costs, even at the expense of their own. Please keep Pervaiz Masih in your prayers tonite (FYI, anytime you see "Masih" or "al Masih" in someone's name it means the person is Christian).

Allow me to play Devil's advocate (recall the office of the Devil's advocate).
Francisco Franco controlled, controlled, controlled Spain through total repression and frequent violence. He boasted of promoting Christianity and traditional Western Values. The Ku Klux Klan has infamously lynched and killed. It has boasted of promoting Christianity and traditional Western values.

I should have added: I do not ask you to agree with every word that Cenk says, only that you actually listen to the point that he's making about demonizing Muslims.
November 12, 2009 at 4:12 pm
One more thing: in Tampa, a reservist attacked an Orhtodox priest–precisely because he mistook the priest for a Muslim terrorist.

Brian – you are buying into Mohammedan propaganda. Cenk is a shaved baboon, a gross liar and a Mohammedan. First, Pat Robertson is a heretic and most likely mentally senile. Either way, he does not apply to or speak for Christianity. Second, the KKK, Aryan Nation etc are heretical cults and not Christian (they believe Jesus was not born a Jew). You cannot lump them into Christianity anymore than you can lump Baha'i in with Mohammedans. Lastly, READ THE QUR'AN and then decide whether the Mohammedans who are committing these attrocities are doing so on their own or if they are simply following what their book tells them. It is extremely clear.
You would do well to stop advocating for the devil, now and always.
November 13, 2009 at 12:25 pm
Shaved baboon? Did you just refer to a "Mohammedan" as a sub-human primate? Cenk is agnostic, by the way–you just lumped him with "Mohammedans" simply because he looks like one. Furthermore, you can't presume that he lies constantly simply because he disagrees with you.
Athiests will quote the Bible to "prove" that Christianity is inherently oppressive and violent.
Take a look at what John Paul II said.
"We Christians joyfully recognize the religious values we have in common with Islam. I would like repeat what I said to young Muslims some years ago in Casablanca: 'We believe in the same God, the one God, the living God, the God who created the world and brings creatures to their perfection."
I will bow out of this thread before I get involved in a flaming war.
