Have you wondered why Obama bowed to the Emperor of Japan? So did we, until now…

Wait, did he say that Dec. 7, 1941 was the date of the detonation of the Atomic Bomb over Hiroshima? Is he not only clueless about Christianity, but also history? Hiroshima occured on Aug. 6, 1945. Yes, the use of the atomic bombs was a horrible event in our history, but let's not denigrate the deaths of Americans in Hawaii.

Who can be bothered with facts when you've got Big Grievance Inc. to run?

Isn't it custonamry in Japan for people to bow to one another when they meet? Not that profoundly, I don't think, but I have never been there.
And Wright clearly has his facts messed up, but then again, the reverend usually does.

7 December, 1941 was, of course, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.

I don't think Japan would have attacked us if we hadn't dropped all those atomic bombs on Tokyo in the first place. As far as Germany's involvement in WWII, well, everyone knows Hitler got his marching orders from Rome.
[I'm being facetious]

Is not bowing out of respect a sufficient reason where it is the custom?
Are not the Japanese expected to shake our hand when it is offered?
If the degree of the bow (too profound or too shallow)is in question, surely your President might be forgiven for not having it down pat. After all I'm not sure his genuflections would be too good either.

Amy: Japanese & Korean bows are much deeper than the Chinese bow which is like a nod.

Thanks Rick. I thought so, but wasn't sure.

This comes from the Howard Zinn School of Creative History or Make It Up As You Go Along…kind of like the President's touching acknowledgment of all of our great 57 states. As for the Reverend Wright and his supporters–who there would know the difference anyways or really care…when it's the thought that counts?.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!"
"Never mind,he's on a roll …"
Jeremiah Wright: not bothered by facts.

Nod – Wright doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would watch Animal House. Great call!
