Experts have noticed the problem. There’s a shortage of people willing to step up and do the job. And because of that, the limited number of those who have joined are stretched thinner and have to work harder. Experts have noticed that their average age is climbing rapidly. And they’ve noticed that many of our best and brightest young people aren’t interested in joining.
While I could be talking about priests, actually liberals are worried about the graying of abortionists. Poor things.
All I can think is that if only they let abortionists marry, none of this would happen.
Amanda Marcotte writes that pro-aborts must:
Address the shortage of abortion providers. We all know the drill: the average age of an abortion provider in this country is soaring upwards, and many doctors who deserve to retire and spend their days playing golf stay in the business because there’s so many women who need abortions and so few people to provide them. Few counties have abortion providers, and many women have to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles to get one. And it’s because younger doctors don’t want to perform abortions. They don’t have any memories of the horrors of septic abortions (unlike many older doctors), and the harassment they face if they join up seems like too much trouble.
The problem is complex, but not unfixable. We should lobby for stronger protections for abortion clinic workers, so that fear doesn’t drive would-be providers away. More importantly, we need to find a way to get people with the right attitudes and the right skills into the business. Programs encouraging bright, young pro-choice people into medical school to train as ob-gyns who perform abortions is a good start. Pushing medical schools not only to teach the procedures for abortion, but also to highlight the dangers of self-abortion would also help. Perhaps a scholarship program for medical students who train to be abortion providers, or a debt forgiveness program for those doctors that provide abortion? There are endless possibilities, and we should undertake them.
Can you imagine that there are people out there who believe there aren’t enough abortions taking place? Yeah, that’s the problem in America.
To me, it says something positive about America that the number of abortionists is dwindling. I think it has something to do with technological advancements that allow us all to see what’s inside the womb. The ol’ “blob of tissue” argument doesn’t really work anymore.
But if this graying of abortionists continues watch for some government intervention to entice young doctors into becoming abortionists. Because what good is federal funding of abortion without abortionists?
And we must always remember. Babies are the enemy.

Also, a lot of interns/residents spend a rotation in the NICU. Kind of hard to be keen on ripping babies apart when you've spent all that time trying to SAVE them.
There's an OB shortage right now. The people who still go into OB do it because they love babies and are willing to take on the lower pay/ worse hours because they see delivering babies as a calling.
So why would they work as baby-executioners on the side?

If they can marry and produce little abortionists? Clever title.
The government can produce "abortion techs" with some basic training program to replenish the supply. It can also boost demand by setting a one child policy. But it will not happen in the near future considering that most Americans are still spiritual.

Abortionists are dwindling because my generation (and those after me) realized how full of bull**** the abortion movement is. We understood really quickly (thanks in large part to technology, which allowed us unprecedented insights into fetal development and great strides in saving premies) that murder is murder, no matter how much you dress it up.

Where will they find "bright, young pro-choice people"? "Bright" and "pro-choice" don't seem to mesh w/ each other.

Perhaps a better analogy to the priest shortage issue: there would be more abortionists if the medical profession would simply get rid of the Hippocratic oath. The oath is just a discipline, right? It doesn't change your ability to practice medicine.

And here I thought the mantra was that nobody wants more abortions, they should be safe and rare right?! Oops, someone let the cat out of the bag again!

I pray that my generation which was the first to see its brothers and sisters coldly murdered at the behest of our parents is the generation that puts an end to the grisly tragedy.
The most poignant sign that I have seen time and again at the March for Life is the one that reads "Stop Killing my Generation", when carried by a child.

"many women have to travel hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles to get one"
I know this isn't the main point of the post, but this line really struck me.
Sometimes we really go out of our way to justify and do evil, when it would be easier and simpler just to do the right thing in the first place…

Perhaps the reason there are not enough abortionists is because the abortionist's mommies aborted them.

This is bull. Abortion is not a complicated procedure, for obvious reasons. Most of the doctors that perform abortions are amoral jerks who almost flunked med school. Abortion could easily "survive" into the future.
This is a cry to make the abortion profession noble, with every med student "particpating" and even more money flowing to abortion clinics because "what if! Oh Noes!"
Similar to gay marriage in Mass, where once gay marriage was "legal" second graders had to read books like "King and King" whether their parents liked it or not.

I wish that I could share your optimism but I suspect that the explanation closer to the truth is that there are not fewer med school grads who would just as gladly be abortionists as cosmetic surgeons, it is that those who have no moral qualms about abortion avoid it because they do not want to be in a profession that sometimes requires security personnel, makes you a target for fringe elements and invites scorn from a healthy percentage of people. Self-interest, not conversion of heart, is the more likely explanation for abortionists going the way of Sisters of a kind with Theresa Kane.

I think people forget that there are the 'morning after pills' promoted quite blatantly on commercials on the cable channel WE(RU486).
Most women are not going to the clinics because they found they can kill in the comfort of their own homes. The clinics will disappear one day but the killing will continue.

Well. We have something to be thankful for!
THANK YOU GOD FOR WHATEVER IS BEING DONE TO REDUCE THE MURDER RATE!!!

Most medical doctors no longer take the original Hippocratic Oath.

When the government takes over everyone's medical care, they will also take over the medical schools. Abortion training will be made mandatory for aspiring docs. They won't advertise it, though. Watch for it.
