Things are not looking good for us. Congressman Bart Stupak is reportedly “optimistic” about resolving the little abortion difficulty in Obamacare.
You know, every time I start having some faith in the existence of Blue Dog Democrats or at least pro-life ones reality comes along, slaps me in the face, and laughs at me.
And now this: Kathryn Lopez of NRO is warning pro-lifers not to count on Stupak. She writes:
I read this morning that Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak is “more optimistic than […] a week ago,” about the possibility of a deal on abortion in this health-care legislation.
I spoke with Tennessee Republican congresswoman Marsha Blackburn this morning (the audio will be available online later today), and she cautioned against hoping Stupak saves the day and stops Obamacare. (Stupak does, after all, support the goal of federally run universal health care.) She encouraged every American who doesn’t like the current White House campaign to push their agenda on us against our wishes to keep calling and e-mailing his members of Congress.
You know, I’m starting to wonder if Blue Dog Democrats really exist. How ’bout you? Take the poll

Update: Stupak essentially tells everyone to chill in the Weekly Standard. Check it out:
Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak said yesterday at a townhall in his home state, “I’m more optimistic than I was a week ago” that a deal could be reached to pass a health care bill that bans public funding of abortion. Some speculated that this meant Stupak was ready to cave. “Obviously they don’t know me,” Stupak said in an interview this afternoon with THE WEEKLY STANDARD. “If I didn’t” cave in November, “why would I do it now after all the crap I’ve been through?”

Hey Matt? The poll is skewed … it wouldn't let me vote for Chupacabra.

Hey, yeah! Me neither! Someone should start up an interest group for equal Chupacabra rights!
And I dunno. I'd like to believe that if you defined a blue dog Democrat as "Does not think that calling them 'tickle fights' will call off the dogs of scandal," then maybe they exist.
Seriously, Massa. Best fallout yet.

I'm concerned, too. But even without Stupak we have a chance. There's no guarantee all 12 of the coalition will join him in being a traitor. In fact Joseph Cao definitely will not.
Please join this novena we're praying: http://vigilforlife.blogspot.com/

Yeah, I wanted to vote for Chupacabra, too. Someone's suppressing the vote in favor of Sasquatch!

There are no prolife Democrats- they only claim to be to provide cover. All of them will vote for Obamacare- they will vote the party line, they always do.
