Here’s the new rule. When you’re head of the RNC, you can’t complain that THE MAN is out to get you anymore. You are THE MAN.
But this hasn’t stopped Michael Steele from playing the race card. Again.
The AP reports:
Steele was asked if he felt he has a smaller margin of error than others because he’s black.
“The honest answer is yes. It just is,” the former Maryland lieutenant governor said. “Barack Obama has a slimmer margin than others.”
“But you take that as part of the nature of it,” Steele added. “It’s more because you’re not somebody they know. … Not old-boy network oriented. … My view on politics is much more grassroots oriented … so I tend to, you know, come at it a little bit stronger, a little bit more street-wise. That’s rubbed some feathers the wrong way.”
Does this “street wise” include reimbursing staffers for a night out at a lesbian bondage club? Is that street wise ’cause it just seems kind of dumb to me?
When this whole reimbursement scandal happened, Michael Steele was presented with two choices. One – you’re running the RNC like your own personal frat house. Or two -you’re an incompetent manager who doesn’t know what’s going on beneath you.
There are no other options. I can’t stand Steele.
If I had told you that there was a guy who supported Roe v. Wade, said “you’re right” when Republicans were compared to Nazis, endorsed Dede Scozzafava, said that he scares white Republicans because he’s black, and told his Republican critics to “shut up” and “Get a life” wouldn’t you think that guy was some Democrat talking head?
The guy never wanted to be head of the Republican party. He wants to be a celebrity. Let him go be one. But right now there’s just too much risk to having him as head of the party.
Dump Steele now.
Steele has been a disaster. It’s time for him to go.

Steele does not have the passion and commitment for this task. He acts like it's a 9 to 5 job. He needs to step aside right NOW because he is part of the problem. And to keep the race card from being played, put Condi Rice instead.

I was going to suggest Palin as Steele's replacement- a place where she could energize the Republican party from the inside out (it would also drive the media nuts)… but I have to say, Rick, Condi is also a fantastic idea!

I can' stand him, either. I want to like him because he's pro-life. But you nailed it. He's into the celebrity and the RNC is like a reality show.

The thing that cracks me up about this is the people who think the party will hold together "just because." We already have to endure slurs from the media, "hip" neighbors and friends, and Hollywood. Do they really think that by putting the "party" in "political party" they'll keep everything together?
The only way the RNC can survive is by generating strong political results while making itself a much leaner political machine. And let's face it, that ain't happening. At this point, I don't even know if it could.

The only problem with replacing Steele with Palin is that she is even dumber than he is…

Amen, it is past time he was replaced.

Jill…Do a little research, Michael Steele is NOT pro-life.
