Oh nothing much going on here but a photo from space showing a section of Earth taking on the awful and howling visage of an anguished soul. No biggie.
A radar image of the volcanic crater appears to show a nightmarish face, which is reminiscent of Edvard Munch’s painting ‘The Scream.’ Coincidentally, it is thought that the masterpiece was inspired by the blood red skies caused by the powerful volcanic eruption of Krakatoa in 1883.
I’m not one to panic but when craters in the Earth take on the panicked visage of Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone I say strange things are afoot. Very strange things of the not good variety.
It’s also a little depressing that while strange occurrences like this inspired one dude to paint a masterpiece all this similar awesome and fearful occurrence did for me was inspire me to write a stupid post with a reference to Macaulay Culkin. Kinda’ sad when you think about it.

Besides the interruption in air traffic, the potential to contaminate water supplies, and obvious health issues, this erruption could very well spell trouble for the upcoming Northern Hemispheric winter. If the ash settles in the stratosphere, it will reflect sunlight back into space, which will cool the artic stratosphere. This, in turn will warm the lower Artic atmosphere. With El Nino on the wane, and a La Nina developing in 2011-2012, and add in a cool North Pacific, the Artic Oscillation (AO) could go strongly negative again. This means a strong drop in regional temps, and a very cold 2010-11, and 2011-2012 winters for the Northern Hemisphere.
But we should be thankful that there wasn't a volcanic erruption in the Tropics. An erruption there would cool the Tropics, and cause an even stronger drop in temperatures -in this case in both hemispheres.

Good thing global warming will counteract the dropping temps. Whew!

St Agatha and St Janarius, patron saints of erupting volcanoes, pray for us.
We will, please God, go to Turin on Tuesday!

I love this post. I was thinking the same thing about Macaulay Culkin and that painting. Oooooh! So haunting! Thanks for making me smile.

More proof that our Mother Earth is very angry with us.
She is going to cool the whole planet back down for us, to stop global warming. Soon the ice will stop melting so fast in the arctic… but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Sorry.
Seriously though – crazy pic. Ghost of Holger Danske methinks!
Or is this just a picture of Detroit at night?

The earth has a funny way of taking care of its self, it was made that way. All the global warming scare is about is another way for the socialist to scare the populous into behaving the way the want them too.
