My favorite show on television is about the manufacture and distribution of crystal meth in Albuquerque. Yeah, go figure.
The show, Breaking Bad, centers around a high school chemistry teacher, Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) who receives a diagnosis of lung cancer. Walter, fearing financially for his family which includes a pregnant wife and a fifteen year old boy with cerebral palsy, decides to use his chemistry skills to cook crystal meth just for a little while.
I really enjoy this show for many reasons. The acting is first rate and the story telling enthralling. But mostly I enjoy it because it is a character study, it dives deep into the character and nature of sin.
I have never seen a show …

Absolutely. This show is AMAZING. The way it traces the effects of drug manufacture and use makes the show completely compelling. Should be required watching for anyone who thinks drug use is a victimless crime.

Agree – it's a riveting show – like a car crash. The acting is truly top notch. And I think it's interesting how the evil becomes all absorbing and even the attempts at goodness are sucked up by it. For instance, the main character, struggling to do ANYTHING good it seems, makes sure that he, at least, meticulously produces the BEST meth. Talk about breaking badly. It is truly a "crime doesn't pay" message. Unlike some other shows like Prison Break. (Arguable, yes.)
Just wish it wasn't on so late. Only caught a few episodes.
