Kyra Phillips of CNN today claimed that the Pope has failed to apologize for the sex abuse scandal. Not only is that a lie but it’s an outrageous one in that the Pope has apologized numerous times.
The Pope has apologized more for the abuse scandal than Obama apologizes for being American. And that’s saying something.
Newsbusters has the offensive transcript:
PHILLIPS: Okay. As you just heard, the Pope is asking for forgiveness, but still, there are two simple words we haven’t heard: I’m sorry.
CNN’s Paula Newton, live in Rome- so Paula, why can’t the Pope just say, I’m sorry for this global sex scandal?
And believe it or not it gets worse from there.
Matthew Balan reports:
Newton then compounded Phillips’s falsehood by answering, “Centuries of theology says that he can’t. A very formal mea culpa was really not going to happen here, Kyra, although that’s what victims’ groups said that they wanted.”
Centuries of theology prevent the Pope from apologizing? Are these people so ignorant that they could actually believe that or do they just hate the Church so much that they don’t care about their own credibility.
The Pope has apologized numerous times including here in America, in Australia and over in Ireland. And I’m sure there’s other times as well that I’m not recalling.
CNN owes the Pope an apology on this one. But something tells me CNN will be a lot more hesitant to apologize than the Pope.

Boycott CNN. Watch FOX instead.

"The Pope has apologized more for the abuse scandal than Obama apologizes for being American. And that's saying something."- Hahaha!
This is why I stay away from the lame-stream media. Their ingorance is just plain GROSS.

In their defense. These idiots "do" the news, even making it up when they have to. They don't pay any attention to it.

Really, though, is Fox much better? I mean, whenever I turn on that channel or check out their website, I am accosted with pictures of Madonna and Brittney Spears making out or by an over abundance of cleavage or leg showing from the female anchors.

Is that the choice for news, Fox or CNN? I'd have to vote "none of the above." Pro-Fox Catholics, let's not forget Sean Hannity's opinions on certain Church teachings. The main reason I didn't get further into the "Crunchy Cons" book was Rod Dreher's advocacy of Fox as a news source.

The main reason I didn't get further into the "Crunchy Cons" book was Rod Dreher's giving up the term "granola conservative" for the more ridiculous alternative "crunchy." Crunchy??? What the hell is that, the sound of Birkenstocks on gravel pavement? But I digress. As far as Fox News Channel goes, just ignore the neo-con Hannity. Watch the news programs that actually do NEWS. Then watch Greta and Megyn for good common sense analysis, and Glenn Beck for educational comic relief.

When money gets in in the news, expect them to sell the Pope even if it sells out their very own credibility as newscasters…
CNN newscasters aren't Catholic anyway.

Phillips doesn't treat her family any better, as an open mic reveals.

Funny thing is, in Italian, "I'm Sorry" is "Mi dispiace." Knowing the mainstream media they'd translate that literally as "it displeases me" and they'd go on complaining that the Pope never said "I'm sorry."

CNN does owe the Pope an apology. I don't watch CNN because they either distort the facts, omit the truth or don't present the whole story, or they just fat out lie. Watch Fox News, there fair & balanced. God Bless!

TIME's recent cover story was titled something like, "Why Being the Pope Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry: Blah, Blah, Blah, sex abuse scandal, blah, blah." So, it seems we have a theme running these days…oh, wait, nothing new here.

David L. Alexander: "Crunchy??? What the hell is that, the sound of Birkenstocks on gravel pavement?" LOL!
bamfff: When you ask is Fox much better, the answer is YES! MUCH, MUCH better than CNN or any other news choice. However, you also wrote,
"whenever I turn on that channel or check out their website, I am accosted with pictures of Madonna and Brittney Spears making out or by an over abundance of cleavage or leg showing from the female anchors."
While I have zero problem with the legs of the anchors, I have to agree about the website. The Foxnews.com website has basically become trash. I still hit it from time to time for, well, news, but there is so much truly raunchy stuff on there that am just about done with it entirely now.
I wish they'd loose the whole "entertainment" section, not to mention the "sexpert" crapola and just stick to the NEWS, which they do quite well.

I don't watch the news any longer–I read it and can be selective. I also am able to avoid th blabber mouths.
