Good job guys!

@ Fr. Andrew,
Thank you for your conscientious comment.
There is a yearly tradition at St. Charles that we have a sort of Variety show/Comedy Hour every year before our Patronal Feast Day and its attending celebrations. Its extremely common for videos like these to be made for the entertainment of the Seminary and its alumni. It's a way for us to put up our shoes and laugh and build fraternity.
If you look at the author's work, whom I know personally, you will see that he has also put up two other videos that are examples of our work for this much beloved show. All of these were approved by our Dean and all responsible parties.
So….
Will everyone finally just have a good laugh and enjoy our video? 🙂

@ Dave,
Glad to see you guys got approval, I'd hate to see any seminarians get into trouble! I got a good laugh out of all the videos. Thanks for taking your seminary variety show and making it public so that we all can get a glimpse at what goes on in the seminaries these days. I'm glad your Dean let you take these things beyond your in-house comedy. -Fr. Andrew

Yikes! They were in a Catholic chapel, in the presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle and were filming this? I am shocked and appalled. I am all for looking at the lighter side of things but could they not show respect here and find a different location?
The same could be said for the people who actually perform these behaviors during Mass.

It's PRIVATE! How come I can't watch it?!

I find the kiss of peace during mass very important. I feel unity with my family and friends during the consecration. I eagerly await the coming of the body of christ. if things are short a wave or visual node if fine.IF people do not want to participate that is fine too. We follow the instructionof our Archbishop, who stopped the kiss of peace or handshake since the H1N1 .I really find I miss it,and wait for the ban to be lifted. Also I think people worry too much about Germs during the Eucharist the bread and wine have been changed into into the body and blood of Christ. trust in the lord

Yeah. A friend sent it to me this morning, and I started to watch it but got distracted, but now I can't even watch it!

The video will not play. It says I have to accept a friend request? What does that mean?
Thanks!

Please make the video public!

When I received First Holy Communion instructions many years ago, the priest was quite adamant about NOT turning around in church. We were to always look towards the altar. Nothwithstanding Vatican II, I have retained that learned behavior. I speak with my friends in Christ before and after Mass, but certainly not during the holy sacrifice of the Mass.

I haven't been able to watch the video but it STILL made me smile! HA! And laugh – there!
Nothing better than a serious priest with a good sense of humor. You know why? Because being able to "sense" humor (if you will) is akin to being able to "sense" other human emotions. Not often that you find someone with a good sense of humor who is not also good at relating to others.
I find those "sticks in the mud" (not picking on anyone here!) are also the same types of folks who have trouble relating with people in other ways.
A good priest must have many attributes (which may all be listed here by people smarter and better informed than I). And it is true that being a priest or a good Catholic doesn't REQUIRE a good sense of humor. But a priest who can avail himself of the lighter side of the world may have extra armor against despair or the focus on evil, deeper faith in the care of our Father, and an additional avenue for "reaching" and simply communicating with the members of his parish.
There must be a word for that. When the pastor is "reaching out to" and communicating with his parish members I simple call it, "Pastorizing".
Anyway, as John Candy once said, "Lighten up, Francis."
Not everything is funny – but I glad so much is! Thanks for the video – I hope to get to see it! 😉

Yes…..we never ever want to disturb or possibly offend people. Pablum!

Does anyone have another link to the video? I just saw this post and from the comments the video sounds funny, but for some reason it isn't showing up.

Matt. 5:23-24. "If you bring your gift to the altar and there recall thatyour brother has anything against you …"
IMO the greeting of peace, if it belongs in the liturgy of the Mass, should be scheduled before the Offertory. Further, the people most in need of hugs or other greetings from me are my own family and my own neighbors; not necessarily those people at the same mass as I am. Perhaps this greeting should be BEFORE the penitential rite.
Problem is that it is being taught to children as appropriate, when they attend Mass on a weekday as a class, to bounce around the church offering handshakes to all in attendance. Apparently their teacher lacks some knowledge in this area. Having the "Kiss of Peace" where it is, is at least an interruption and distraction from the purpose of the liturgy to offer worship to God.

Dave,
I would definitely like to see yall's video too I definitely struggle with some of the signs of peace in the Mass too. Also on a side note I am a student applying to St. Charles Borromeo seminary in Philly and I was wandering what the rules are regarding the cassock. If i am accepted I will be working towards my first degree and didn't know what the rules for those students that aren't in the theologate or pretheologate are.
Thanks and God bless
