San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom had made two moves of note in the past year. He declared his city a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants and now just today Hot Air reports:
Coca-Cola is out, and soy milk is now part of San Francisco’s official city policy. Under an executive order from Mayor Gavin Newsom, Coke, Pepsi and Fanta Orange are no longer allowed in vending machines on city property, although their diet counterparts are – up to a point
Now this kind of thing makes me wonder. What if an illegal immigrant is caught drinking Coca Cola on city property? What then?
Meanwhile California continues to ignore its ever faster descent into an economic whirlpool which threatens to drag us all down into a Depression with them. And there will be no soda during the depression. But plenty of illegal immigrants.

Y'all have your own respective theories and excuses for the obesity epidemic – but nobody has hit the nail on the head. What is the REAL PROBLEM with this picture?
It's called "nanny state."
We're raising a generation of WIMPS. Yes, WIMPS! (and while we're at it, let's call them "fluffy, formerly known as obese… well, obese to us rational folks, fluffy to you ridiculous folks" kids.
People have to blame their problems on everyone BUT themselves. Whatever happened to the old fashioned concept for assuming responsibility for one's life, one's choices and the impact of those choices upon not only oneself, but others too?
Ooooooooooooooooooooh, what a concept…
I guess that's what separates a true conservative from a leftist poser.
If someone wants to have a soda, it's their choice. If they get fat from drinking soda, it's THEIR problem! It's not my fault. It's not your fault. It's not the government's fault. If someone wants to have water, that's their choice as well. But, I think we've gotten to a ridiculous point where we can't handle the choice and are now dependent upon Big Brother to make and dictate those choices for us… and if things go wrong, well we've got an excuse and I'm sure a lawyer waiting in the wing to sue somebody….

Unhipmom – as an ultra-conservative libertarian, I agree with you in theory. I believe every adult's choice concerning what they put in their body is their own, which is why while I don't drink alcohol, smoke or do any drugs, I believe they should sll be legal (and taxed) and up to the discretion of the user.
I think the point you are sadly missing is that giving an individual choice does not mean we should put them in vending machines in public places either. No one is taking away anyone's "rights" here. Vending machines are a convenience. You really need to understand the difference.
On the issue of raising a generation of WIMPS, I'd definitely have to tell you to speak for yourself there. All signs point to my 5-year-old being a text-book alpha-dog (for good or for bad).
