MTV in the UK has tweeted for young girls considering abortion to contact MTV, likely for episodes of a reality show.
The New Current reports:
So MTV is looking for 16-24 year olds who might be considering abortion and want to share their experience with the world! Their Tweet was as follows:
mtvuk Are you pregnant, 16-24 and considering an abortion? Are you willing to share your experience? Contact mtvstories@mtvne.com in confidence
Why?I’m guessing that the success of the MTV show 16& Pregnant (which has now been picked up by LivingTV) has led to the producers wanting to take this type of reality show to the next level.
A number of liberal feminists (is that redundant?) have argued recently that in the reality show “16 and Pregnant” that there’s not enough abortion.
This could be what they’ve been asking for.
The only thing I’ll say to them is be careful what you wish for. Remember, the leaders of the abortion movement are doing everything they can to keep this procedure in the dark. They don’t want ultrasounds. They don’t want crisis pregnancy centers talking about it. They don’t want protestors near their buildings. They don’t want pro-lifers to be able to air pro-life ads. (Remember the Tebow ad kerfuffle?) Pro-aborts have actually had great success enforcing a ban on shining a light on abortion.
It would be rather ironic if MTV were the ones to help expose what abortion really is, wouldn’t it?

This is sick beyond belief….

A disgusting idea, but I believe Matthew is right. The pro-aborts are all about keeping the reality of abortion in the dark. I find it hard to imagine abortion coming out looking good by having a reality show about it.

Do you really think they'll give the pro-life position a fair shake? Somehow, I doubt it. I'd be very surprised if this came out as anything but a Planned Parenthood propaganda piece.

Agree with Anon (Chris M). MTV has all the editing power they need to make the show appear as they wish. Any girl who decides against, or who goes ahead with, but is tortured by it later could be edited out completely.
Show the "Agony of decision" then show happy party girl relieved later. Whatever they want.

I agree that they'll edit out anyone who decides against abortion or any sign of doubt and regret afterward. Perhaps though the people involved in the show will witness these things and their hearts will be changed. If MTV is going to do this anyway we might as well pray for some good to come out of it…one converted heart is better than none.

HBO ran a series in the mid-90's I believe. They followed women who were making a decision to abort their babies. The one episode I remember watching portrayed the abortion as secondary to the woman choosing to abort their baby.

This will most definitely be propaganda. Reality shows don't depict reality. They advance an agenda.

I don't know, the trends are reversing, and people who view themselves as pro-life now outnumber those who identify as pro-choice. If this show actually happens, it will be the real-live equivalent of Bump+, which was a fake reality show (rather a mind-boggling concept), and actually quite good. Didn't CMR link to the British feminist who acknowledged abortion is killing, but that a better life for women justifies it? Her kind are going to help turn the tables; abortion has been palatable to many because it's been glossed over and dehumanized. Once abortion=murder in social consciousness – and more people on the pro-death side seem willing to admit that (!), it will have to be verboten, no?
