You know that terrible Israeli blockade of Gaza?
You know that blockade that forces die-hard terrorists – leftists – peace activists to man ships to try and run through with much needed supplies?
You know the blockade that is starving and depriving the people of Gaza becuase even the most basic supplies cannot get through?
Life can be very difficult in Gaza.
So what to do when things get this bad? Well why not go to the grand opening of a new luxury mall in Gaza.
Imagine what life would be like in Gaza if supplies could actually get through. That mall looks so nice its almost worth running a blockade for….

I must be really perverted, but I think those women look so hot in burkhas. I would be completely okay with finding a bride in the middle east who actually wanted to wear burkhas. I'd also like to join a third order just to wear a habit.
Catholicism: the only religion cool enough to let its faithful dress like characters from Final Fantasy games while on official business for Jesus.

Actually, most third orders don't wear the habit anymore.
I agree that the head scarves look beautiful (not the full body burkha though) and wish the third order did since I'm in the process of becoming a third order dominican.

Christina – there is no prohibition against it. Maybe you can lead by example.

Early Riser, other than a small scapular the third order Dominicans do prohibit it. Although I could (and do sometimes) wear scarves of my own volition, it's not a habit and doesn't have the benefit of letting others know you belong to a group.

Christina – wait, you're saying the 3rd order Dominicans prohibit you from wearing a veil? That makes no sense whatsoever.

3rd Floor: Bomb Vests"

Jimbo – you're not too far off.
What's funny is you'd be surprised at how many designers cater to the Mohammedan market. In Europe it is very common to see the CK logo on headscarves/hijab, as well as Louis Vouton robe/abaya.

I don't know if CMR saw this but it was a great commentary on the reality of the flotilla tragedy:

That's a great vid, sdcougar! And so true.
It may be slightly off topic, but you may also be interested in yesterday's excellent article at CSP on Elana Kagan's Sharia problem.

I can't help but wonder if she is going to push to allow the adoption of Sharia here, too. What a piece of work!

Jimbo – I think Kagan is uniform on her "you GO, GIRL!" agenda. While she may have seen the financial aspect of Sharia "quaint" because it presented her an opportunity to get down-and-dirty-with-diversity, I have to believe she is not pro-Sharia when it comes to the view that women are worth 1/2 a man in testimony and 1/4 a man in inherritance. Plust the whole sexual ownership of slaves would probably not sit well with her either (unless of course the owners were women, in which case…well..nevermind).

Wow, E.R. your text sure looks familiar.
Recall that Sharia encompasses an entire body of law. ANY notion that any part of that law could have a place in this society could only exist within a usurpation of the Constitutional authority.
The idea that a nominee for a lifetime position on the SCOTUS could imagine ANY part of Sharia acceptable is unbelievable. And extremely dangerous.
This has begun to happen in Britain, sad to say. It shouldn't happen here. In other words, who cares if she is not COMPLETELY pro-Sharia? Good grief! Her only job will be to interpret the Constitution. She has shown other propensities to embrace international legal precedence over US law as well.
To me this is all like a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.
