CMR friend Jen Merkel has the audacity to disagree with her betters in the government. Surely her insolence will be repaid by a visit from the authorities.
If Jen gets picked up by the feds I just hope she doesn’t mention this blog as agreeing with her. In fact, maybe I shouldn’t have even written that we agree with her. Maybe my next post should refudiate Jen Merkel, you know to distance her from us.
In case, the authorities are reading – Jen you had it coming!!!! How dare you question whether a mosque should be built at the site of the World Trade Center? You know, because Islam had nothing to do with 9-11.
I think that should do it. (Now that the authorities aren’t reading CMR gives big huzzahs to Jen for her post.)
Jen writes:
It is a well established fact that the new aristocracy in Washington, and points left, looks askance at the fumbling yokels that make up the electorate that they must oversee.
The Elites currently in power believe that they have the only true path forward, and we are just too stupid to stay out of their way. They must deign to lower themselves, occasionally, to pat us on the head and explain what they must do, for our own good, even if it is painful….
I hate being patronized.
Continue reading at Jen’s Pen and you too can distance yourself from Jen in the combox.

Originally wrote Jen Raiche by mistake. Fixed it to Jen Merkel. Got it? Jen Raiche good, Jen Merkel bad.

I'm am SO proud to call this woman my mom, but I had to distance myself too. We moved to Texas. At this point, all I can do is hope I don't end up baking cakes with files in them when Big Gov't realizes my mother is thinking for herself.
Snaps for Mom! She's one smart cookie! 🙂

Building a Mosque on the Trade Center is a bad idea and it's insulting to the victims of 9/11. What about the anger that was shown when a convent was built near the concentration camps? Why was anger shown to that but to the Mosque being built on ground zero? That's what I want to know.

Was building the mosque a federal decision? The letter from the Senator seems to indicate that the complaint was misdirected. What am I missing?

As I far as I understand it, the decision was the City of New York's. Mayor Bloomberg, the city council, as well as those who approve the permits, etc… have the final say. But then again, who knows what pressure was applied by whom. What I find quite alarming was the speed of the decision. Afterall, it has been 9 years since 9/11 and the city still is debating what should fill the place where the Twin Towers once stood. Yet, it took the city only a few months to reach a decision to build a mosque one this site, which will be named after the Caliph of Cordova. The only thing that could make the city act as quickly as it did is money or fear – or perhaps both. Maybe our Beltway Masters had a hand in pressuring the city, maybe not. In this day and age, anything is possible.

While I have no illusions about the connection between radical Islam and the events of 911, this is still America and people of all faiths are free to build houses of worship.
However, the developer of this project is fishy to say the least. In addition to his own past statements in support of radical Islamic ideals, he refuses to disclose the exact sources of funding for this project. Because of the evidence indicating a clear connection between certain mosques and extremist Muslims, there's more than enought reason to block this project from ever happening (and yes, for the record, I think they picked this location on purpose…not to further interfaith understanding but rather to plant a "victory" flag or rub salt in a wound or whatever. I think this builder is lying and he ought to be stopped).

If a crowd had gathered and called for a Mosque on 9/12 New Yorkers would have simply slaughtered them outright. Not that that would have been a good thing, but it just goes to show how utterly short-term the American memory can be. This make me want to throw up really.
Anyone interested should check out this really excellent, short, video on the Mosque put out by CSP.

I like 'refudiate' – to refute and repudiate at the same time! If it were 'refoodiate' it could also mean to serve leftovers in an off-putting way to a foodie.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww…Joe beat me to it! "Refudiate" is totally my new word for the week!
