According to the Darwin Project Charles Darwin wrote to the physiologist William Preyer: “The support which I receive from Germany is my chief ground for hoping that our views will ultimately prevail.”
So how did Darwinism work out in Germany? Anyone hear anything about how that turned out? Did it have any effect on the late 19th century or early 20th? Anyone?

It's somewhat interesting that "The Explanatory Sprawl of Natural Selection" was at First Things today, written by Edward T. Oakes, S.J. (a Jesuit BTW) on the same day that this CMR post was published.
