Yesterday’s ruling by a California judge that overturned a ban on gay marriage is simply the latest outrage done by our black robed oligarchs in recent history. This chipping away at the moral foundations of America is not a sudden attack and in fact it hardly surprised anyone at all. There is no shortage of precedence. The game plan of secular progressives is clear. They know they can’t convince the people to do their will so they get judges to implement their will and override the people’s votes. In short, judges do what the people won’t. And boy have they been doing it.
I’m not even talking about those decisions of the past like Dred Scott or Buck v. Bell which allowed for the legal sterilization of those with a low IQ. In recent history there have been so many cases that have eaten away at our most fundamental rights and act as building blocks for further outrageous rulings.
Roe v. Wade and related cases like Doe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey invented a right to abortion that cemented abortion as a right, thus making it extraordinarily difficult to put any limits on the procedure.
Engel v. Vitale was the U.S. Supreme Court decision that without any precedent banned any and all classroom prayer from public schools.
Stone v. Graham was the U.S. Supreme Court decision that invalidated a law requiring the posting of a copy of the Ten Commandments in schools in Kentucky…

I agree with you. People seems unaware the power of Judges. Though in this Case this was a Judge nominated by Reagan, opposed by the Dems twice until Bush Sr got him on. Still Judges are important and even if you have a moderate GOP critter he will have to appoints some conservative Judges to keep the base happy
One further thought. I think we would be in error to blame this entirely on secular Progressive. Many Many Libertarians that we conservatives are in alliance with are cheering this opinion on.
I understand these coalitions but that is at play too.

In all fairness, what do you expect? It's simply a matter of fact and just a question of time that our world and societies will continue to degenerate until the end. The second coming isn't going to happen amidst a wave of the world growing CLOSER to God. It's simply a given that it will only continue to fall further away. I believe we have a duty to practice our Faith and stand for what is right. But on the other hand, I'd also rather prepare myself to expect continued degeneration so as to be as prepared as possible and to minimize the shock and utter disappointment when things continue to fall apart. I fully expect many more horrors such as aspects of the way we practice our Faith being outlawed, many more atrocities and evils gaining the power of law, and other such things that seem incomprehensible to us even now. My method is twofold: 1) Live my Faith, and 2) Always expect the things of this world to continue to degenerate away from God and further toward evil.

Anon at 9:00:
I totally agree with you. We do not know when the end is coming and it may not be for a thousand years. On the other hand, we have no reason to expect any decline in the influence of evil in the world.
I would, though, add a #3 to your list. I think that we should also fight evil by standing up for what is right with everything we have. (That could be rolling into your #1 of course.)
It is VERY tempting to just roll up into our little Catholic community ball, cut ourselves off from the world and stand back as it falls. But I don't think Christ intended for us to take the easy way out and only love each other…
Point: our government, society, world is in rapid decay, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't sacrifice and fight for its improvement.

Check out Scalia's dissent in Lawrence v Texas (the Texas sodomy case) – he nailed it. The courts keep pushing us down the slippery slope of moral relativism.

A gay judge in California rules in favor of gay marriage. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.
Who was it that said history is just one long defeat until Christ's second coming?

Arguments have also been made that same-sex marriage dilutes the institution of marriage, just as similar arguments suggested that interracial marriage diluted the white race. My personal favorite absurd justification says that (despite the idea that we are all God's children and loved equally) gay marriage is against the laws of God and nature. That argument was used [in 1963] by Leon M. Bazile, the judge in the initial case against the Lovings, who said:
“Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.”
