I knew celebrities had outsized egos. I did. But I don’t think I understood how crazy some of them really are. I mean really really crazy.
Susan Sarandon, in talking about her divorce with Tim Robbins was quoted this week as saying that the divorce really shook all of America up. I’m serious. Here’s what she said, according to Big Hollywood:
βThe nation mourned.
βI had a lot of people who came up to me and were not upset as I was, but were definitely upset.
βI did feel a sense of responsibility because I knew that people had a certain idea of how I was and who we were.β
What?!
Now that’s pretty crazy but then you get George Clooney bringing the crazy. That’s the one good thing about Clooney movies coming out, you can count on him saying really really stupid things. I will never ever see another Clooney movie but I still so enjoy the stupidity he unleashes on the world every press junket. (Here’s why I’ll never see a Clooney movie.)
But this latest outburst of his has to be the stupidest and craziest thing I’ve read since Hugo Chavez’s speech at the U.N. Clooney, in a recent interview, said:
“I’ve been honored to be able to lend my celebrity to help wherever I can, especially on behalf of the United Nations…but in the case of Darfur it’s been the greatest failure of my life.”
Darfur is the greatest failure of your life? YOUR LIFE?
There must be some tragedy that doesn’t pass through the Clooney filter, right? Something somewhere isn’t about George Clooney, right? Somewhere. No?
Darfur is in the midst of a guerrilla civil war based on ancient animosities and money, and power. Thousands of people have been killed. Seriously, what does George Clooney believe he could’ve done to prevent this? Delusions of grandeur much?
Dude, you can’t even get people to go to the movies.
Seriously, I’m asking who’s ego is more outsized and delusional? Sarandon or Clooney?

The nation mourned?!? Wow, what an arrogant jerk. Not only that, they were never married – didn't believe in marriage just shacked up for all those years.
As for George Clooney, what can I say. rolls eyes.
Many celebrities live in Fairyland, these are two of its residents.

Huh? I didn't even realize Sarandon and Robbins had gotten married, much less divorced. I just assumed they were still shacking up. But whatever, I certainly never gave their relationship more than a passing thought if I happened to see them in a movie together. I'm certainly not all broken up over their status. In fact, I'm more broken up over the fact that Sarandon actually thinks I give a crap about anything that old lefty bag of wind does.
And Clooney is just an @-hole.

Probably Sarandon, since she let down the whole "nation". Clooney is the tiniest bit less sickening, since he thinks it was only Darfur that he let down. Oh, wait, maybe I'm gonna change my vote….Clooney said something about his work with the U.N.?? Whaaaa…..I can't even believe I just spend three or four minutes thinking about these jerks.

I vote for Sarandon here. She looks like someone making the parody of Colbert making the parody of other people.
Clooney, whilst clownish, probably wanted to get across a different message, "I am so accustomed to have things going my way that everytime it doesn't it is a real shock to me"-type of message.
Basically he is saying how successful he is, not how much the nation cares for him.
In the meantime we are informed that Johnny Depp earns a multiple of him and even DiCaprio does now better than him. Therefore if you see him you can greet him with "hello, loser…" π

these actors are crazy. who cares? i'm much more interested in priest molesting children. that's why i go to church and donate money. the church needs more support. the more support the less actors will show off their egos. their egos are disgusting.

These are some of the people that voted for "hope and change". This just proves how delusional they are.

We're talking about a group whose biggest accomplishment is playing the adult version of "Let's Pretend".
Who gives a fat rat's patoot?

So I've heard of Sarandon, but not the husband/boyfriend. I hadn't heard they broke up, so I didn't mourn. And now that I know, I'm still not mourning.
I can't believe those egos!

Thanks for that link for why you won't see anything with Clooney in it. Add me to the list.

I will go off the menu, with choice C) Alec Baldwin.

Who has a bigger ego?
I do.

Way to go, Voice in the Crowd!
How about *ugh* Matt Damon?!

Once again, I see I was cloned by some weird, borderline stalker. And actually I'm pretty sure it's a she. One would think a new parent would spend more time with her new infant and less time stalking, wouldn't one?
Anyway, regarding Cluney, while I DO recognize he has an enormous ego and is out of touch, I don't think the Darfur comment was out of line. I don't think he was saying he failed to end the conflict. He was trying to bring national attention to it (which he did), raise money (which he did) and put international pressure on Sudan (which he could not do). So, in that sense I think he recognizes his failure.
On a separate note: I've had a comment on this blog censured/deleted for simply saying the title in question was out of line/in bad taste. So, let's not forget; you don't have to be a celebrity to have an ego.
