A Local Fox affiliate in Michigan covered a new pro-life billboard. The billboard in Marinette, Michigan shows a worried pregnant teen with a though bubble saying “My mom is going to kill me!” But it also shows the though bubble of her baby in utero thinking “My mom REALLY is going to kill me.”
The FOX report shows the customary reactions. Some good. Some bad.
It is hard to judge the effectiveness of such a billboard as it only needs to be the right message for one person to be worthwhile. Watch the video and tell me what you think.
Thanks to reader Mark for the heads up.

To the artist–this is a perfect example of how one person can make a difference. In this case, the people in your youth group have had an enormous effect on the masses. Keep up the good work.

So listen.
Sex is fun. In fact, I would go so far as to say sex is "really really" fun. When done safely, it's one of the most intense pleasures we're granted in our short little lives. We've beat nature, we don't need to have a child every time we have sex, and we can prevent the transmittance of STDs 99% of the time, why doesn't everyone just have more sex?
As far as abortion is concerned, by preventing the beginning of a life you aren't killing anything. According to chaos theory, every single one of those aborted children could have grown up to be a serial killer, who knows? Isn't the world a much better place right now?
In summary, live your life, keep yourself alive, and don't hurt other people. Beyond at, anything is fair game. After all, you can't take any of this with you after you die, why not just enjoy what life has to offer (lots of sex included) and stop worrying about it?
Also, stop being so Catholic. What an odd religion.

Being Catholic has nothing to do with being pro life or pro choice…Just saying.
And um, sex isn't like a pleasureful toy to be played with. It's a sacred thing that brings new life into this world.
Also, abortion doesn't "prevent the beginning of a life." It actually murders a child. Life begins at conception (scientifically proven) and abortions are used during trimesters.
Nice sign by the way 🙂
To those who say it's graphic, they should "Google" abortion images and look for something graphic there.

Thank you everyone who has supported the bill board! I am a member of the youth group that created this poster. We are very shocked that, by the grace of God, it is making such an impact. We trully believe that sharing a pro-life point of view is important, especially for our teenage peers. Thank you again for the support and God Bless!

I'm a teen (though that video makes me hesitant to admit it), and God bless those who had the courage to put up that bilboard!
Those local young people give teenagers a bad name. "your ideas" .. seriously? One would hope that by the time he graduates from high school he'll know the difference between theory and scientific fact. And then "way too graphic". That one had me speechless.
Keep up the good work.. let us hope it continues to make a great impact!

To Anonymous 2:57: You have absolutely no idea that the pro-choice young man was "successfully brainwashed" to "regurgitate propaganda." That description would be applied far more accurately to the Catholic Church. He may have thought about it deeply. Allow him the dignity of his opinion.
Also, human beings are the only creatures who perform sex as an act of pleasure, bonding, and love, and not simply as a mechanical means of reproduction. To say sex is only for procreation is to debase it to an animal level, like a cat in heat, not to elevate it. The Church is DEAD WRONG on this issue.

To Anonymous (at 3:34AM — that's the only id you gave) – Before you denounce the Church as "DEAD WRONG" I might suggest that you actually look at what the Church teaches. The idea that sex is only for procreation has NOTHING to do with the Catholic Church. Sex has a two-fold purpose, a bond between the (married) couple and the possibility of children. In regard to abortion/contraception the Church simply says that sex should be OPEN to life.. not that it is only positive if it is striving for pregnancy. While there is a huge difference here, I'm not actually naive enough to think you care.

To Annony11,
Yup. Took the words out of my mouth in response to the guy who seems to think the RCC only uses sex for procreation. How many quotes could I use from the Catechism to defy Anonymous? The Church acknowledges that humans are the only creatures to use sex as something other than reproduction; the Church believes that that's because GOD INTENDED IT. Let's go with:
"Conjugal love involves a totality, in which all elements of the person enter – appeal of the body and instinct, power of feeling and affectivity, aspiration of the spirit and of will. It aims at a deeply personal unity, a unity that, beyond union in one flesh, leads to forming one heart and soul; it demands indissolubility and faithfulness in definitive mutual giving; and it is open to fertility." (CCC 1643)
Honestly, Anonymous, I would take THAT approach to sex waaaaay before I'd ever take a 'wow, sex is just meant for fun, yee haw!' approach. There is nothing more meaningful and divine than conjugal love.
Now who's the one debasing the act of sex? *Hint: it's not the Catholic Church.

First: To All those involved in the Youth Group (incl. the artist) that came up with this billboard ~ BRAVO!!! I hope it gains the recognition it SO deserves, and hope the Church uses it to further its stance and teachings of the importance of ABSTINENCE! Not the promotion of contraception. Which leads me to this,
To those of you who are obviously not of the Catholic faith, but felt it necessary to share your views on this billboard and its POWERFUL message, your take (or judgmental 2 cents) on the Church’s teachings and we as Catholics who try as best we can to follow these teachings, as well as pass them down to the next generation, I say unto you, “How Narrow Minded,” uneducated and selfish you are in your thinking. But so glad that this billboard – however you came across it – got you thinking. I would like to think that should you ever find yourself in this position – man or woman – your decision to bring a[n unplanned] child into this world, or to abort it, would be different due to a much longer internal debate. Or from a man’s position, would you think or feel different if days, weeks, months or years later you learn a woman you had such “fun meaningless sex” with aborted your child without your knowledge or consent? Or would you think to yourself “Whew, thank God I didn’t have to make that call,” or whatever other selfish, indifferent reasoning you come up with to justify the direct or indirect part you played in murder?
Q: What if, when you die, that child (or children) has the ability to confront you at judgment, before God, on the issue of “Why did you kill me?” Would you or could you stand by your reasoning?
I know MANY women who, at one point in time, found themselves in this unfortunate situation and each confided that, at the time, they thought it was for the better to follow thru with abortion for whatever reason. However, it eats at them daily, and 8 out of 10 regret doing so. My heart and prayers go out to every woman who has made the decision to end a life in this way and agonize daily for it. Not so much so for those who use it as a form of birth control, or those who see nothing wrong with it. For those of you who are pro-choice and stand by the myth that it’s okay because a fetus is not a human life, I’d like to share this story:
While in college I made friends with a woman whose mother worked for a doctor who offered and performed this “service,” and I will never forget her telling me that prior to extraction, the doctor has to first go in and breakup the fetus’ just forming skeletal form, and during one procedure a study was done to see just what, if anything, the fetus goes through or if it has feelings. And to my horror, she said a recording proved that life does exist at this stage because you can hear the fetus screaming in pain!
I will leave you with that proven fact to ponder…

The stunning truth of this billboard is BEYOND genius!!!
Kudos to the youth group and artist. If I believed in cloning, I would start with you. JK, because you know I don't as a devout Catholic.
May our Lord bless you abundantly!

Pro-lifers are among the least likely to write a check to pay for that kid for the next 18 years, and set world records for whining about welfare.
Generally, the attitude is once they got the kid to pop out, it's on it's own.
Dumpster baby anyone?
Just sayin'.. 😉
