I know for years our elected officials have ignored the Constitution but they’re not supposed to say their true feelings in public. But here it is – a Dem congressman saying outright that the Constitution is wrong.
For BIG GOVERNMENT types the Constitution only means what they can get some wacko judge to agree that it does.

Matthew,
Usually (like 90% of the time), I'm right there with you. But, not on this one.
Just because it's in the Constitution doesn't automatically mean it's right. That's why our Founders provided a way to change it – you know, in case they were wrong.
It's okay to think that the Constitution in wrong. Many people thought it was wrong during the ratification process: see, Amendments 1-10.
Don't take me to say that we should wily-nily go about amending the thing. Amendments should be few and far between.

I think it's possible in this case that he misspoke – he may have meant to say that the "Supreme Court is wrong" and it came out Constitution. In that case, he'd be wrong, but the comment would be less egregious.
Now, if he did mean to say "Constitution," while I agree that it's not beyond the pale to suggest that certain aspects of the Constitution are wrong – it's not as though the Framers were infallible human beings – but you have to do a better job explaining why it's wrong in this case.

It may be incomplete as the framers cannot forsee every contingency, hence the amendments.
But I don't see it as wrong i.e. supporting immoral or unjust stances.
It is wrong for those who subscribe to a different ideology e.g. Communism. Then, again that would be subjective i.e. wrong for those guys only.
In and of itself, it seems to be one that best respects and supports the nature of humanity and the resulting social bonds.

I have to say that it was more of a rejection of a particular decision. But looking for such themes in future communication might be prudent.

Eh, this is a little weak. He surely meant to say "the Supreme Court." At worst, it's a Freudian slip.

Is that Ad for Satan's Blog here on your blog real, or a joke???

He's completely right. It's an absurdity to give corporations the rights of persons, like free speech. Corporations are private tyrannies designed to make profit, not persons with a conscience. Real conservatives back in the day fought this supreme court decision tooth and nail.
Corporate influence in the political process is a stain on American democracy. Politicians should never be beholden to moneyed interests.

The Constitution can be wrong, and it's not unAmerican or treasonous to say so. It's been amended several times just because of that, and somebody had to have said "Hey, the Constitution is wrong to not have term limits in for Presidents."
Of course, campaign finance isn't really in the Constitution, so McGovern probably meant Supreme Court. To me the statement isn't a big deal, but his ideas are.

By the way, the Satan's Blog ad should go…the stereotyping and mocking of the Church shouldn't be linked from here.
