It is cute – Gumby and his little sister. I remember my two year old as a peapod. They still sell that costume at Party City.
But now to be a wet blanket, let me raise the issue of the distressing popularity of Halloween vis-a-via Christian spirituality. I dismiss it is a fun candy dress up day but it is still a celebration of the underworld – so to speak. And everyone regardless of creed and ethnicity is on it. Instead of being united by something noble and wholesome, it is the macarbre that draws everyone together. Something ain't right.
I felt like that the year I dressed as a robot, 1950's style, made of three cardboard boxes glued together and spraypainted silver, with various dials, knobs, and buttons applied. I did have my legs free below the knee, and my arms stuck out, but I couldn't bend at all.

One year one of my brother dressed up as a priest in the casssock my mother made, my sister as a nun (SSJ!), and I went as a ballerina. I believe my other brother went as a ghost. We must have been a hoot – note to self to see Mom has photos!
My convert mother was a little nervous about the reaction of the associate pastor and the sisters but when informed my brother "said" Mass – correctly and reverently, I might add, in Latin! I have a feeling they saw vocations, not disrespect.
