Just this past weekend, shoppers at the the Macy’s in Philadelphia (the old Wanamaker building) were surprised when over 600 choristers who were there mingling with regular shoppers suddenly burst into Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. It’s pretty awesome.
The Opera Company of Philadelphia was instrumental in bringing it together to perform one of the Knight Foundation’s “1000 Random Acts of Culture” which they’ll be doing over the next three years across the country. Accompanied by the Wanamaker Organ – the world’s largest pipe organ – the singers burst into song at exactly noon.

Absolutely Amazing! Hallelujah means Praise the Lord….and that is never commercializing or religiosizing….it is a word of expression to praise our Lord. How trulyw wonderful to have the privilege to do so with our fellow man.

This is a WOW moment. Let me share with you, that as a child, my parents took me to John Wanamaker’s store in Philadelphia. (I think Macy’s IS in the Wanamaker building). It was usually around the holidays, and we were sure to be there at noon, or sometimes on the hour, to be there when the organ was played. I took organ lessons starting at age 7, and this was such a wonderful inspiration to hear it then, and it fills me with emotion to hear it now, again. We would then sometimes spend the rest of the day in historic Philadelphia, seeing the Liberty Bell, City Hall with a statue of William Penn standing on top, Penns Landing on the Delaware waterfront, visiting with my great aunt who lived on the oldest continuously inhabited street in the USA, in Philadelphia, on Elfreth’s Alley. We would ramble through Reading Terminal, one of the original fresh markets – fresh everything! We would also go to the original Bookbinder’s restaurant for lunch, where they served Snapper soup, one of my grandmother’s favorites. My dad always loved hardware stores, and no visit to that area would be complete without browsing the ship chandler’s store on Market Street. Thank God for all these wonderful memories.

Finally got the tears of joy from my eyes enough to write this post. It was absolutely awesome. God must have been smiling as He heard this wonderful presentation.

I have sung Handel's Messiah on numerous occasions. The idea of the 'spontaneous' mall presentation is clever. However, the audio and video quality, start and stop picture, created a sad praise.

I'm an atheist, and I loved this. Let's just all be on one side when humans do beautiful, loving, happy things for one another.

Well it finally made it to Pittsburgh and how wonderful it was to watch. I so enjoyed listening to the song that I once sang in choir that has so much meaning. Brought tears of happiness to me! How could anyone make a negative comment about this? Perhaps only the believers feel it…it's amazing!!!

It is a shame that an advertisement for Satin's blog should be a part of a email that is to Glorify God! All Christians beware!

I work for the ACLU and I am going to hire Nazi's to search and destroy every poor bastard that thinks this is anything but a travesty. I also have friends with Pta and the Black Panzies and they will be using their influence to squelch such activity. Obama/BiteMe lives!
