Sure dozens of pro-choicers got booted from Congress but rest assured it had nothing to do with abortion. Did you hear me? It had NOTHING to do with abortion.
At least that’s what Eleanor Smeal, the former President of NOW and the current President of the Feminist Majority Foundation, is saying. In a statement published in Ms. Magazine, Smeal acknowledged that while pro-choice candidates got beat badly she wants everyone to know that it had nothing to do with abortion.
Smeal channeled her inner Kevin Bacon by telling her pro-abort compatriots that all is well and that they should all remain calm.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the election had almost nothing to do with abortion or any other non-economic issue. This election was all about spending, debt, and taxes (in that order).
I say that as a 100 percent pro-life Catholic who wants to see pro-abortion Catholic politicians excommunicated.
I also say that as someone who works in GOP politics and knows the difference between a hope and a fact.

Well, considering one of the main reasons people were offended by Obamacare was its taxpayer funding of abortion, I think we have every reason to be happy and hopeful.
People who support "Anytime, any reason preferably taxpayer funded abortion" were surprised by the national concensus: we're just not that into abortion. And even if that support is expressed in economic terms (we don't want to pay for it), it is being spoken.
HUGE victory.

I agree with Ryan Ellis this election was all about the ECONOMY period. To believe it was about abortion is a bit delusional.

Anyone care to read Matt's comments carefully? He didn't say it had to do with abortion, or even that it was significantly about abortion. He disputes the NOW's claim that it had nothing to do with abortion. Really? Absolutely nothing? Smeal's comment sure is doing lots of whistling past the graveyard for something non-existent.
In any case, Matt is wrong. Smeal's comments are not like Animal House. They are like Naked Gun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NNOrp_83RU

I dont really think you can separate abortion and the economy. Its a multi-million dollar business which with Obamacare, won the philosophical core of the nation's health delivery systems (for a few months…).
I think this election was about common sense, which the Democratic party's lacks on the abortion issue just as much as they do on economic issues.
People are really tired of being told that the only reason they want a balanced budget, an end to wars and yes, SANE government health care policies is because they are scared, religious, gun nuts.
The election is a repudiation of the Obama/Pelosi/Reed philosophy about the role of government, including the role of government in providing and promoting abortion.

Well…I voted pro-life. Every election for me has everything to do with electing officials who will end abortion. That's my version of the whole "seamless garment" philosophy (which imho is bunk otherwise.)
It might not have been about abortion, but I think this is the first time that all conservatives whether that be fiscal, social, or limited government could unite and get rid of the scum of Washington. I know, I know…We've got a long way to go!

@ Sand Mama is the public really wanted to end two (sic) wars and balance the budget, they wouldn't vote GOP. Bush started one of the wars for absolutely no reason and threw piles of tax dollars at it to surge it. Balancing the budget and stopping the wars are a croak of it. People are upset with the economy (especially jobs) and home prices/foreclosures.

For me it is all about abortion. Obama funded it ain healthcare nd opened up foreign funding of abortion, but then again, I didn't vote for the infanticide President in the first place. As for the foreclosures, that is the fault of Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac. Both parties spend too much money, which is why we HOPE the tea party cuts spending.

What kind of Christian site makes fun of people being beaten? Oh that's right not to worry, Christ will forgive you and you will still get into heaven.

Pro-lifers really need to collect stats on voting patterns and motives. Knowing this data will make politicians think twice about what causes to support or dismiss.
