You’ve got to know that the White House is in a tizzy about this editorial. Shocking is the word that comes to mind. Granted that it’s by moderate Democrats Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen but the Washington Post still ran it. And that really says something.
Instapundit writes:
BAD NEWS FOR OBAMA IN THE WASHINGTON POST: To be a great president, Obama should not seek reelection in 2012. “We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed.”

This is a ridiculously dishonest post. This is NOT an editorial of the Washington Post. It is an op-ed – y'know the type of a forum that a paper opens up to a diversity of views.
But you know that. So why do you run with such lies?

Anon: Are you kidding me? Matt explicitly states who the authors are. Also, if you haven't noticed, WaPo and the NYT publish some conservative op-ed's but not very many.

Are you kidding me?
As the USS Progressive Hopey Changey takes on more water, expect more random ranting.

Honestly, I don't know how much clearer I could've made it. I'm getting used to trolls but they still have the power to surprise me sometimes.
November 13, 2010 at 7:59 pm
yes, anyone who disagrees with me or the catholic church is a stupid troll. either you are with me or against me, and if you say something critical you are a troll. only people who agree should comment.

Another wonderful quality of trolls – they can't read. Other than that, a bundle of laughs.

Obama's usefulness for the Left has expired. We were the frog slowly boiling in the pot and Obama turned the heat too high. His socialist/commie/marxist actions have awaken the sleeping giant of ordinary working Americans. The Left either didn't expect this awakening or they thought we were ready to embrace them. So, if any group hastens Obama's fall from politics it will be the Lefts and it will be on purpose. To calm the storm it will need to appear that the Democrats (controlled by the far Left) are moving towards the center and the only way to do that is for Obama to be a one term president.
I for one am glad Obama was elected – he's done more in getting this country to realize the creeping evil that has been happening for decades. It is our duty to remember that the Left never surrenders and they'll fall back to the slow creep system once again. The next two years will be the climax of this horror show called the Obama Administration, but we still have many, many years to undo all the damage.

Hmm. Seems the honeymoon is finally over.

What is overlooked by the op-ed is that it is waaay too late for Obama to be a "great president". That's not to say, however, that a refusal on his part to seek a second term would not be cause for dancing in the streets. 😉

@ Bill Meyer: Lincoln was a great President, but only after he was shot. Obama already became a great President when he was elected unfortunately. The only recent President that had a chance to be a great President was Bush W. He had the chance to restore the U.S.A.'s world dominance. But instead he fell asleep, and will be know as the only President in recent times that allowed the U.S. to be attached.

I find it interesting that rather than talk about the merits of what the op-ed article by Pat Caddell & Doug Schoen said, a person(troll?) has to hide behind anonymity & attack it on a technicality. & then when called on it has to resort to insults & personal attacks rather than debate what the article said about Obama.
Ultimmately, Matt is right, the White House has got to be in a tizzy about what they said. In particular that the piece said "But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed.”

@ al: ultimately you need to learn english grammar and spelling.

Ouch Al! You got slammed with the Grammar Rebuttal! How will you ever recover?
November 15, 2010 at 1:24 am
I believe Anonymous (2:41 PM) rather handily proved Al's point in his/her attempt to rebut it.

Even if he declared his intention not to run again I wouldn't trust him if you paid me.

BINGO! He/she hid behind another personal attack rather than respond to the challenge to an honest debate about the article. & even there the person avioded specifics about what was wrong with my comment. Yes, I did mistype a word, but we all do at times. So what? That doesn't make my points any less valid.
Rather than attacking us, why doesn't this person have the courage to debate the merits of the article? The only answer I can come up with is that he/she can't come up with anything to rebut what was said in the article.
