Picture this…
It is halftime during the Superbowl. You just watched some funny commercials from Doritos, Budweiser, or Geico. Then the next commercial hits the tube. This commercial shows dead babies.
A small group of antiabortion-rights advocates are hoping to recruit a presidential candidate so they can run graphic ads showing aborted fetuses during the Super Bowl, Congress.org reports.

Bad, bad, bad idea. It's only going to tick people off. This is not how we win minds, hearts and souls. Absolutely not appropriate.

Truth has its own persuasive power over minds and hearts. And the pictures show the truth.

37 years of constitutional gobbledygook and institutionalized murder is enough for me. I'm ready to tick some people off like Jesus did.

What is it that some folks are so fond of reminding me of at my parish from time to time? "Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable"?

We need to show aborted fetuses to every American! The sight of an dead fetus made W. Bush anti-abortion. It might work on the rest of America, too!

The ad, like the rest of the pro-life movement, will have limited success at best, until the root cuase of abortion is addressed, and that is contraception.
Contraception has created a culture in which the individual demands an unrestricted right to recreational sex. The natural result of this culture, which is a direct result of contraception, is disease, teen pregnancy, fatherless children and abortion on demand.
Catholics, who have always been at the forefront of the pro-life movement yet use contraception in overwhelming numbers, bear the brunt of the blame.
Catholic men must stop getting vasectomies. Catholic women must throw away their pills. Both need to start trusting the God theyclaim to beleive in. Only then will the culture of abortion on demand begin to decline.

SHOW EVERYONE!!
People need to see what a dead baby looks like and then they instinctively will understand that they are human.
The pill must go.
You cannot be CATHOLIC and Pro Abortion or on the PILL.

I'm with the first anonymous. If being "in your face" is all that's needed to win the day, we'd all be Jehovah's Witnesses by now.
There are times when these can be effective — when you're dealing specifically with individuals who deny the humanity of the unborn. This is not one of those times.
Afflict the comfortable? Try phoning people at 3am to wake them and tell them that abortion is evil. That'll REALLY win friends and supporters, right?
Better yet, try thinking before you act.

This is Anonymous #2.
The dude above is avoiding the argument like a champ by reframing the issue to "whether being in your face makes you right."
The issue should be "whether showing aborted children to those who would prefer not to see them is an effective way to convert their minds and hearts." For the reasons I stated above (see Fr. Pavone's website), I answer "yes."

The abolition of slavery in this country was not supported until people SAW slavery. The TRUTH shall set you (an a lot of unborn) free.
