The war on Christmas continues.
This is just so ridiculous. In the picture above the workmen in Philadelphia are tearing down the word “Christmas” and putting up “Holiday” instead.
Weasel Zippers reports:
It’s that season again, which means that for the third year in a row, the German Christmas Village has set up a cozy collection of wooden booths and tree vendors in Dilworth Plaza on the west side of City Hall.
But a few shoppers noticed something amiss yesterday on the tall metal archways signaling the entrances to the shops. The archways had just one word on top – “Village.”
Sounds festive, eh?
It turns out that the letters spelling “Christmas” were removed yesterday afternoon from the archways on the north and west sides of the plaza, at the request of Managing Director Richard Negrin. They will be replaced with the word “Holiday.”

America has lost its mind and the city of brotherly love no longer loves the baby Jesus.
Update: Mayor Nutter announced that the word “Christmas” will go back up. A win for the good guys.

Matt & Pat,
Not sure how to contact you. You may want to look into a story where the poop is going to hit the fan at Notre Dame. A girl committed suicide this weekend, after having reported that a football player raped her, and the school DID NOTHING, to investigate. The President, the coach, DID NOTHING. There is now another girl who is going to come foward. There is a HUGE problem at Our Lady's University. You can read about some of it at the Chicago Tribune. Mark my words, this WILL make National News and the University will not look good. It is time to rid that University of the Evil that is there, starting with the President.

The original article (linked at Weasel Zippers) makes the idiotic claim that Santa is secular. If only they had a clue.
Looking forward to celebrating all of the holidays (holy days) of the season. There are a lot, especially if you include feast days. Nicholas (aka "Santa"), Immaculate Conception, Juan Diego, Our Lady of Guadelupe, Christmas (also my parish's patron saint, Anastasia), Stephen (also my birthday), etc.

Shame on Philadelphia – from an historic city of high morals to a city of sleazy activists who act without any thought or feeling about people.

Philadelphia's Cathedral could use some donations. It's a huge church and everybody's moved out to the suburbs.

When I went to the Philly Cathedral I put a check for ten bucks in the basket at Mass.
A week later, I received at my home (in a different state), a letter (hand-signed) of thanks from the rector. He must have gotten my address from the check.

Avid lurker of CMR here,
If I trust AP than I have excellent news: they restored the name! Mayor Nutter probably realized it was more trouble than anything and decided today to restore the name to "Christmas Village". They are trying to spin it that it was the business owner who actually change it, o so independently. Right! Merry Christ-Mass folks.
