The National Organization for Women doesn’t believe parents should have the right to bring their kids to a Hooters restaurant.
Yeah, the same people who want to outlaw children going into Hooters are actually pretty OK with 7th grade girls skipping out on Social Studies to hop on down to the local abortion clinic without parental consent.
Weasel Zippers reports:
The restaurants in San Francisco, San Bruno, Sacramento and Orange County are classified as “adult entertainment” establishments but also serve minors, NOW’s California chapter said in papers filed with police and prosecutors.
What’s more, the organization said, Hooters provides child menus, high chairs and booster seats, and sells T-shirts in children’s sizes that identify the wearer as a “Future Hooters Girl.”
Patricia Bellasalma, NOW’s California president, asserted that Hooters is violating state and local laws prohibiting sexually oriented “adult” businesses from serving minors. The chain is also violating federal employment standards, she said.
It’s not that NOW is against kids going into Hooters because who the heck wants their kids going into Hooters? Not me. But it’s the hypocrisy that drives me crazy. They immediately reach out to the government to put a stop to it. Mind you, these are the same people who are constantly yelling about parental choice. So, according to NOW, parents are allowed to choose to kill their children, they just can’t take them for a burger at Hooters.
Like I said, I’m not pro-Hooters. I’m just kinda’ anti-NOW. So sue me. Oh wait, they might.

Hey, I've had someone tell my husband that it was a great family restaurant and he took his wife and boys there anytime they were close to one. Go figure. (This fellow wanted to take a 7th and 8th grade boys traveling baseball team there for supper.) My husband nixed the idea pretty quick. NOW is soooo hypocritical.

Houston had a woman's version of the place called Woodpeckers in an attempt to illustrate…well it's rather obvious what they were illustrating, but then so is Hooters.
It's also obvious what NOW illustrates…but even a blind pig sometimes finds an acorn.

It seems apropos. Aren't they basically saying in all these cases "we know what's better for your children than you do"?
Your children shouldn't go to hooters.
Your children should have an abortion.
Your children would be better off dead.

Let's hire some Hooter's waitresses and surround abortion clinics with our trays of beer and hot wings. Where would the Nowrons get their abortions then? They would have to walk by repulsive me, dripping with wing sauce and watching football on a widescreen. It's a daring strategy, but I volunteer to do it.

Not only have we taken Kit into Hooters, the ladies have been universally nice to her, consistently polite and cheerful, and didn't really flirt with anybody.
NOW forgot to mention that if it's the kid's birthday, they get a song, a hat and pictures with the Hooters Girls.
It's a place with women dressed like '80s cheerleaders at practice, where you can get hot wings and beer. The only way they could be more offensive to NOW is if they had a big sign out front that said "Hi, we're designed to appeal to traditionally masculine interests, but we're not a strip joint or whorehouse."
(Both of which I've seen NOW types defend as important modes of expression for wymyn.)

Hooters is only one letter away from Hookers, and stands for….. You can call them "nice girls" if you like, but ladies don't dress like that, in this world or any other.

You are right and as the Lord indicted the Pharisees, the same applies to them as "..straining the gnat but swallowing the camel (yuck)"
But just as the pope saw the beginning of a moral awakening in the prostitute who uses a condom to prevent AIDs, then these misguided Liberals may be at the dawn of a moral awakening when they start considering the negative impact of exposing boys to voluptuous and bodacious waitresses.
